New here, not sure if this is the right forum

So for the last year I’ve noticed some cholicky pain in my right upper abdomen. Nothing in the left side and it radiates to my back occasionally (right side). It’s more annoying than painful, it’s just there. I also notice it when I sleep on my stomach. I can feel something almost radiating and it wakes me up. I was a heavy drinker and know that probably has something to do with it. I’ve slowed down a lot on the alcohol consumption to try and wean off it altogether and joining a group.

I don’t really suffer any attacks after eating or drinking (alcohol) but have noticed if I drink heavy coffee or eat a salad my body doesn’t absorb it well and diarrhea follows.

I plan on visiting the dr tomorrow, but as anything else on the internet I am worried it’s CP bc of my alcohol abuse.  Also, I read people that have CP don’t have a the greatest outlook on longevity. I’m 34 M. Anyone else deal with similar symptoms?

Hi aj, it could be anything, wait until the doc runs some tests and don't panic.  At 34 you're still very young and alcohol abuse doesn't promote longevity as a rule so I hope you find a way to stop soon.

I have CP and have never been a drinker.  Mine came about as a result of another medical condition I have, bummer.  Depending on how the pancreas is impacted by the disease we can live long and prosper despite the CP tag.

The liver doesn't like alcohol abuse either and having right side symptoms might mean that's where your problem lies.  Or not, tests will tell hopefully.  We with CP do have to stick to a low fat diet and not touch alcohol or smoke and not get complications that can put a spanner in the longevity plan.  If you smoke stop aj, the pancreas hates it.

Hi, thanks for taking your time to respond. The more research I did the more I think it might be ulcers and gastritis.  I will wait to see what the DRs say as today I woke up symptom free of anything, and from what I read CP doesn’t feel very good. I don’t smoke, and am learning to stop alcohol. It’s tougher than I thought, but it’s not impossible.

I hope the best for you and pray for healing and health.
