Hi Ses & Everyone

Happy Birthday to you! I shall be delighted to come to your cyber party lol

I had a nice relaxing bath before bedtime thinking it would help me sleep well! Not! Don't know what it was but didn't sleep at all well kept waking up with really bad pains in my legs. Felt like I had been kicked all over in them

Think i would have been better staying up later lol  Well hope you have a nice day Ses you deserve it! Its about time those doctors found out what is going on with your shoulders. Don't start me off about \"wear and tear\" lol. Be he all day! What sort of answer is that anyway!

Well we have the sun here today so makes me feel a bit better but need to wake up yet!

I hope Di, Helen, Linda and everyone else had a better night sleep!

    hi Tess, everyone xx

Well my birthday was ok, my sister came over with a birthday cake and played a singing candle \"Happy birthday Song\" lol with a bottle of champagne, I got money off my hubby and mum, a bunch of gorgeous flowers off my dad and some smellies from the girls as Mike my hubby gave me extra money off our little boy  and then my chinese takeaway

Anyway went to the doctors and she said she was referring my x-rays back to the Pain Specialist and so he will decide whether an operation or further medication may be needed to prevent this excruciating pain...... so I will probably have to wait until the next appointment in feb 09........... I did however ask for a copy of his letter to my doctor for my records and it is very interesting as he has stated Chronic Pain in hip,(osteo),chronic pain in back(degenerative discs) and Chronic pain in shoulders now finding out due to cervical rib????? and my pain is incurable and so this I am hoping the DLA will listen now as I NEED HELP[/color:4e984f105a] mind you I predict they will probably ignore the facts as if your face doesn't fit then you do not get it???? As it seems that medical evidance does not seem to justify the depth of help one wil need if they are in constant pain from head to toe!!!!!

Sorry I am having a moan, I do hope you all are still having a better day than me????? Gentle hugs ......... and thank you all for those that attended my Cyber party

    :redwine: :run: :weird: :sleepy:

I do hope we all have a good night sleep too and Tess I goto bed with a hot water bottle I have to move it around good job it is not a heat wave as I would be baking  I hope you Tess have a relaxing sleep along with everyone else? and sweet dreams xxxxxxxx

    Hi Ses & Everyone

Was good to hear you had a lovely birthday with your family. I wish I was 36 again. I will be 53 in March next year but feel like 83 most days.

Why do they leave it so long for you to go back to see a doctor or consultant when you are in so much pain. It is not fair on you to make you wait so long. Like you say it your face fits you might get help and its always the people who seem to cheat the system get the help more! Its just not fair on you and everyone else! Don't get me started or will be here all day lol!

I did sleep better last night. Sometimes it helps when my husband is in bed with me I sleep better as I can't move all around the bed lol. He has been on nights and feel I don't sleep quite as well then. Not that I haven't still got a couple of the children he at the moment to keep me company.

Don't feel quite like a Zombie today though. Went to our local shop yesterday and got a few bits. The owner was talking to me and I packed my bag and put my purse away. Nearly forgot to pay her until she said.

Luckily she has known me for a long while so didn't feel to bad

Just shows how lack of sleep can affect us!

Legs have been painful again today but when I woke up it was raining hard! That explains it.

Well hope everyone else is ok.

    Love Tess

HI there everyone, feeling like poo once again nothing new, but I expect that is what we have to get used to........ I found this and I think it is rather interesting that maybe our doctors should know issued in America..........

[quote:88878fcd14]Women with Fibro may have more physical functional limitations than the average 80-year old woman, according to a survey carried out by the American National Fibromyalgia Association (NFA). [1]

For an article recently e-published ahead of print in the journal Womens Health Issues, researchers including NFA founder and president, Lynne Matallana, carried out a secondary analysis using data from an Internet-based survey posted on the National Fibromyalgia Association website. [1]

The data used included 1,735 women aged 31-78 years who reported being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia Syndrome (Fibro). [1]

More than 25% of the women reported having difficulty taking care of personal needs and bathing. [1]

More than 60% reported difficulty doing light household tasks, going up/down 1 flight of stairs, walking half a mile, and lifting or carrying 10 lbs. [1]

More than 90% of the women reported having difficulty doing heavy household tasks, lifting or carrying 25 lbs, and doing strenuous activities. [1]

The researchers also found that women with lower functional ability reported higher levels of fatigue, pain, spasticity, depression, restless legs, balance problems, dizziness, fear of falling, and bladder problems. [1]

    They concluded that:

\"The average woman in this sample reported having less functional ability related to activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living than the average community-dwelling woman in her 80s.\" [1]

They also noted that several symptoms and secondary conditions were found to be associated with limited functioning. Targeting these symptoms/conditions specifically may be important in terms of future interventions. [1]

[/quote:88878fcd14] I think if anyone has an appeal for DLA they should give them this!!!!!!!!! not sure if it would help but it is worth a try????

As America do more research into health matters I thought I would share this with my dear friends, as that is why we feel like we are in our 80's, it is in Black and white  I do hope you have have a better sleep this evening Tess along with everyone else? and I do hope that we all do not feel in our 80's in the morning  ........ gentle hugs to you all xxxxxxx

    Hi Ses, Tess and everyone,

Had a lovely rest down at the coast, my sister-in-law won`t let me do anything when we are there!

So back to the usual pain, stiffness, pain, exhaustion. circle today as I try to do some jobs. I could understand it if I was trying to do stupid things, but just using the stairs is a major effort. I think its worse because I havn`t had to use stairs while I was at the coast.

How is everyone else? I certainly feel 80 today Ses! Thinking about it though my mother is 80 and is begining to lose her memory, but that aside she is physically as able as I am and often comments on things she was doing at my age that I can`t do.

    Take care all, chat later

    Hi everyone

I have just come back from my hospital appointment. My mri results show that there is nothing wrong with my discs but my surgeon can not give me a reason for all the pain that I am in. My back ispainfull as well as all the pain in my shoulders and knees. My arms feel really crampy and my neck is sore as well. He says that it is mechanical !!! apparently meaning all to do with my muscles etc. He says that I am okay to return to work but I have an appointment with my gp tomorrow to talk to her about it. He does want to refer me to a back specialist though I can not see how this is going to help. I have found it increasing difficult lately to do things like wash my hair and use the hairdryer. I feel like I am back at the beginng again as still no answers.

hopefully my gp can help but not at a loss if she can not help.

Hi there Helen, Tess and everyone

Helen have you had blood tests done recently? as I was checked for vitamin B12 deficiency as this can cause muscular problems, I was ok however. I would insist on further blood tests if you are not happy? it took me 18 months before people believed my pain!!!! I hope you put all you symptoms down on paper and then present them to the GP? this may give him/her a picture of how he/she is going to investigate...... I wrote a diary at one point, now thankfully my Pain Specialist Consultant listens to me(diagnosing the fibro) smile My physio insisted I had fibro with Osteo arthritis in my hip and now after 18 months it written in black and white........ so do not give up you will get the answers eventually........ I felt like I was all alone and no-one wanted to listen to meI felt I was banging m head against the wall  even a Rhuematolgist said I had mechanical back strain[/color:f130594439] I would so love to send her the results as she put in a report to my GP I needed to loose weight and I said to me \"you could have Fibromyalgia\" as I questioned her about it but she didn't seem to be interested and yet since I have lost over a stone the pain is worse  ......................... and so I do sympathize with you Helen and so I hope your appointment goes ok xx?

Tess I do hope you are ok? I hope you have had a restful sleep along with everyone else? Hoping so much you have caught up with your sleep, the only thing is you try to and then you feel like you need more as you haven't had enough even if you have slept twelve hours????

Sitting down today is painful my back of my thighs are going numb so I am going to have to love you and leave you all xxxxxx Joys of this lovely summer the damp weather could be the cause of this linked to my osteo????

    Take care everyone xxxx

    Hi everyone

I have just come bak from my gp who was lovely and for once seemed to listen to what I was saying. She has advised me that I should not go back to my current job as the lifting is not at all good for my back. I explained the pain that I was in and she said that I was to wait to hear from the back specialist to see what he says but wants me to stay on the sick until then. She thinks that some of it is linked to my foot that I have had the four operations on and even if they try to treat my back because of the way that I walk with a limp because I have had the pain etc for two years now that it will never be right what ever they do.

She suggested a career change but due to the ammount of time that I have had from work I think that it is very unlikely that I will find employment due to my past sick record. In a way I am happy because she listened to me and understood but now have to wait to see yet another specialist to see wht they say.

Hope everyone is coping well even though the damp weather is here but good news from sunday on it is supposed to be getting better and for next week.

    Hi Ses & Everyone

I am not too bad Ses just been a bit busy last few days. Got children moving into houses, going to uni and going on holiday lol :o Oh and I forgot my Granddaughter starting school today and her new little sister due in three weeks. Busy month September as its also my twins birthday be 20 and we are going away next weekend. Need a rest!

Sleep has not been too bad. Don't feel too much like a zombie when I wake up and get moving around. Feel not with it until dinner time though

Went for a lovely cooked dinner at my daughters today. She has only been in her house two months. First time she cooked a dinner for four.

    Hi Tess, Ses and everyone,

Its pouring here too, did the same for most of yesterday as well! Very stiff and knees and ankles painful, could be the weather. Lol

Has anyone else been offered a fitness programme run by the local council? Apparently gentle excercise of the correct type can be beneficial to the stifness of Fibro as can losing weight. (I gained a stone and half while on mirtazapine!!) I have been referred by GP and have a consultation with a fitness instructer. They tailor make a very gentle programme and it runs for 12 weeks. After that you are free to carry on at your own cost, or give up if it hasn`t made any difference. Anything is worth a try I guess. Have also been told not to attempt any excercise when I am particularly fatigued. Oh well that cuts out 90% of the week then!

Well take care everyone, hope your are not suffering too much with the wet weather. Have a nice evening out Tess

Hi Linda, Ses, Di and everyone!

Thank you Linda. Had a really good time. Even managed some dancing and my toe held out ok. It was feeling a bit funny couple days before but luckily was alright. Still haven't heard from podiatrist at hospital yet! Been a month now. Give it another week and when I come back from Preston and Derbyshire go and see my gp. See if he has sent letter off!

Think going to pay for it today lol. Legs really ache and feel quite tired as didn't get to bed until 1 and up with my husband and twenty to six for work. Went back to bed but couldn't get back to sleep. Have to have an early night.

I do hope your exercise plan does you some good and you get a lot of benefit from it. I have never been offered that but going to see physio for first time this Friday. See what happens with that first

Bit brighter here today got some sun but still got black clouds lurking!

I know what you mean about the wet weather my ankles, knees and toes all ache when it is really wet. We had rain all day apart from when it was time for me to go out to wedding. It stopped but when we came back early in morning was raining again

Well take care everyone and have a good weekend.

    Hi Tess, Linda and everyone,

Yeah exercise is suppose to help fibro as it helps get oxygen to the muscle some good examples that are suppose to help Fibro are....

    [u:b1ac14c60f]T'ai Chi[/u:b1ac14c60f]

Through graceful, moving meditation, T'ai Chi aligns your body in order to enhance the flow of energy.

    [u:b1ac14c60f]Pilates[/u:b1ac14c60f]

The Pilates method is a complete approach to developing body awareness. It is a conditioning program that focuses on subtle movements to improve muscle control, flexibility, coordination, balance, strength and tone.

    [u:b1ac14c60f]Yoga[/u:b1ac14c60f]

Yoga postures work on all parts of the body and can involve gentle, balancing, dance-like, or acutely physical movements.

Although an Article says......Sixteen trials with 724 patients were found, with a variety of different interventions and control groups. Four higher quality studies using aerobic training found a non-significant decrease in pain with exercise (12% decrease) compared with control (2% increase), but improvement in fitness and tender points.

The amount and quality of the evidence does not support benefits of exercise for relieving pain of fibromyalgia syndrome. ??????????????? Some say exercise does help and some say it doesn't, my theory is the medical profession do not really know enough about this condition and so we just have to try

I was told to go swimming as it is suppose to relax the muscles as Swimming and water exercises are apparently beneficial for fibromyalgia sufferers since water supports the body, cushioning your muscles and joints. There are many water exercises for fibromyalgia patients. If you can’t swim - you can wear a flotation device, take a water aerobics class, do water yoga, stretch, or just walk in the water. These are all great exercises for FIBROMYALGIA that won’t stress the body.

Why Is Swimming A Valuable Fibromyalgia Exercise?

Swimming Exercise for Fibromyalgia - It Is Kind To Your Body?

Can Fibromyalgia Patients Swim for Exercise?

    [/color:b1ac14c60f]

Why is Swimming a Valuable Fibromyalgia? Exercise?[/color:b1ac14c60f]

Swimming uses all the major muscle groups, and is a demanding aerobic exercise that helps to keep your heart and lungs healthy. There is evidence that exercise protects people from fibromyalgia. Swimming also helps to keep your joints flexible as your limbs and body move through the water - especially the neck, shoulders, hips and groin. You can increase your level of physical activity by swimming, therefore increase the amount of energy you burn up - a vital component of a weight management program.

Another benefit from the strength and improved co-ordination you build up in swimming, is the reduction and risk of falls and hip fractures. Swimming will not build your bones because you need to perform weight-bearing, land-based exercises for this.

Anyway I do hope Linda I do hope your exercise Regime helps you? and Tess I do hope that you are not aching too much today? well done for keeping up with the dancing, better than what I could do smile my hip is so painful today and it is driving me nuts...... I have started the new tabs now and so I am hoping they will give me relief Lyrica is what I am taking along with Celeoxib (anti-inflammatories) so I am so hoping these will kick in soon taking pain killers too (tramacet- tramdol with paracetamol, as can't take tramadol due to being too doped up!!!!!)........ my cupboard looks like \"Boots the Chemist\"

Anyway folks roll on to better weather........... I guess not .......... when I win the lottery we can all go on holiday somewhere warm lol 8) Highly unlikely, but we can dream  I hope you all have a good weekend xxxx

   [/color:b1ac14c60f]
