Hey guys,

i have just been reading through all your experiences , well done all of you, you have been a great help with answering my queastions,

i have recently started taking the \"blueys\" and have lost about 5pound in just under two weeks, i think after eating too much and spending the next day suffering on toilet which what can only be described as \"sun tan oil\" kinda changes the way you think about food!!

I have started looking at labels and counting the grams of fat which i never did before,

just a couple of quick questions, my doc said 15g fat every meal but upon reading here some say 30g fat a day? i eat 3 meals a day so would that make me \"over the limit\"? Also does anyone else suffer with really abd headaches on them? i don mind if im loosing weight , i will have to cope -where there is pleasure there is pain!!

thanks to all you guys on here, its so nice to see im not alone on these and other people have the same experiences!

thanks

annie xx

    Hi there,

I've been on the tablets 2 weeks and my first weigh in is tomorrow. I'm a bit different as i follow Weightwatchers and use points. I'm trying this for a month and if nothing then I will go on the low fat/calorie counting. WW follows a low fat diet but you have got room to have something nice.

The guidance is no more than 15g of fat per meal. There are lots of threads on here stating 25g-30g of fat a day, however if you log on the Alli website you can use the tools on there to work out how many calories and g of fat you can have a day.

The nurse explained it to me like calories, obviously I weigh heavy so I'm supposed to have a bit extra cals and fat per day. All figures you see on this website are averages and of course not everyone is average.

I have suffered terrible with headaches, I occasionally get the odd headache and have to take strong tablets but the headaches lately are due to these tablets and paracetemol is working fine for me. I have increased the amount of water I drink to try to combat it.

Hope this helps, I'm not an expert on this but like everyone else who replies you share your experience. Somethings work differently for others so the best thing to do is not take everything set in stone and try to experiment to see what works best for you.

I reply to a lot of posts but thats only because its how I cope with things, I like talking and if it gets me through this I'll try not to annoy everyone too much he he!

I have been on 1200-1400 cals / 30g of fat per day, last week was my first week and i stuck to this religiously, weighed myself at the end of week one and had lost 1lb (you may have seen my recent post on this) NOT HAPPY.

I have just been on and registered on the Alli website and that states i should be on 1800 cals and no more than 19g fat per meal. I am going to weigh myself on sat morning as that will be the end of my second week but am going to change my cals / fat as per the Alli website and see if i get on any better this week with my weight loss.

There are loads of useful tools on there like receipies and a meal planner etc so thanks Taffysarah for this. I'll post again on sat and see if i've done any better this week (fingers crossed)

Alli is (I am told) a different strength drug, although based on the same principles as Orlistat. I suppose it is quite plausible that they would recommend a less strong different regime given the drug is only about half the strength and not prescribed/supervised by a GP.

Yep Alli is the one they licensed to sell at pharmacies and is 60mg whereas Orli is 120mg and only on prescription. Do you think upping my intake won't work? Am getting desparate now, i'm still the same weight as sat morning and am begining to panic its not working for me!!

    Hi Hippo,

I don't see why you can't follow the Alli recommendations. If I am understanding it right alli is 60mg of Orlistat. So if they are telling you to follow those cals and fat on half the drug then surely double the dose 120mg should work better?

I'm going to post my experience in a min as I think WW followers need to be aware of things.

    Hi Taffysarah,

i'm going to see how i do this week and then if i still only have a loss of 1lb or so, i'm going to switch to the 19g of fat per meal i'm just a little concerned that if that is what Alli recommends on 60mg of the drug, if i'm on 120mg and up my fat by 8g per day i may have unwanted side effects lol

Good post on WW by the way. I'm a classic yo yo dieter and have always lost on WW but having put on 3 1/2 stones in the 3 years i've been married, i'm now shifting nothing with WW so doc suggested Orli.

Will post on this weeks weight loss on sat, hopefully will be more than 1lb this week!!!

    Hi Hippo,

Thanks for that. I tried to be careful and not tread on anyones toes. At the end of the day its all trial and error hey. Hope all goes well, its good we all try different things and share the do's and don'ts for each other.

I've been in a weird mood today, having lost 50lb with WW last May, then putting on 2st in the last year I'm happy but I've been here before. I've got my bf and mum saying thats good (the last fortnights weight loss), but if your like me you can't get too excited as it might all stop, go back on etc. I know its not very positive but thats the life of a yo-yoer ha ha

Reductil and Orlistat, I only ever lost max 1st 7lb before, so WW was great for me, but its like you said, there comes a point where we need that lil bit extra (and I'm actually using these correctly this time). I've never tried Slimming World, scares the hell out of me. The thought of being able to eat say 2 chickens on a red day, surely your stomach must stretch so when you come off it your in trouble. I shouldn't judge I suppose, I'm pressuming.

Good luck, I'll look out for your post.

    Hi Guys,

Just wanted to stay keep in there and persevere, but also to say it is really early days for some of you and it can take weeks even months before you feel confident that you are eating the right foods and quantities.

    Good Luck!

    Sasx
