New to Anxiety, and worried...

Hi everyone. I wonder if any of you could shed any light based on information they know or personal experiences. Over the last week I have felt rather ill, to the point where I didn't go to work for 3 days. My symptoms were confusion, dizziness, inability to concentrate, blurred vision, general aches and pains, and most of all panic attacks. I was convinced that I had a serious health issue such as Diabetes, Kidney/Liver problems or maybe issues with my heart. I went to the doctor, got blood taken yesterday to test all of the above (apart from heart issues), and went back to work today. Towards the end of the day, with stress at work and the results looming over me, I had what I can only imagine was a severe panick/anxiety attack. I went straight to my GP for an emergency appointment and whilst waiting in the doctors surgery, literally thought I was going to have a heart attack (my pulse was up at about 130bpm). I was called in and told her my symptoms, and she told me that my blood work had come back and everything was absolutely normal! That immediately calmed me down, my heart rate went back to normal, and I began to reflect on what had triggered all this during the past 5 days. I've been under stress at work but didn't think that alone could trigger such symptoms. Has anyone else here experienced anything similar?? Is this likely to be a reaccuring thing and if so what are the best measures to deal with it? I am 24 and have never experienced anything close to this previously, hence why i'd like to get other people's opinions on how to tackle my anxiety. Any help/advice would be much appreciated! smile

I tend to jog when feeling anxious, good way to burn off the excess adrenaline

Are you on any new medication? Have you reduced your medication?

I went through a phase where if inside anywhere I would have to run outside.

Mine was due to anxiety and over doing my sleeping pills. I went to hospital. I had had six double brandies and I don't drink, someone said it would help me sleep. Oh no I ended up in hospital.

Marriage died from then on,, too much hostility from his family (sister).

Its all worked for the best though.

Take deep breaths and always remember you can not die from a panic attack, at worst you would pass out and your breathing would automatically go back to normal.

    Hope it helps,a bit xxx

Thanks very much for your help, I appreciate it. I am not on any medication whatsoever so there must of been another trigger, most likely stresses at work or home.

Yes, normal type panick / anxiety attack, when you were reassured nothing was wrong then you convinced your body to calm down, Classic Case of Mind over Matter !, remember it the next time you get one,  and Modern Lab's will show any destruction from enzymes being spilled into the bloodstream from any and all of internal organs so they know when they see normal labs that nothing is going on ! good luck, - Try putting yourself into a pleasurable Daydream state, - self hypnosis so to speak that works !

Also at your age it is normal to notice your body's aches and pains more pronounced as your natural growth hormones are tapering off rapidly and you just dont feel as good

Thanks very much for your advice. It's my first real experience of anything like this so, naturally, it was pretty frightening. Now if it happens again I will have a much better grasp on how to handle it. I will try meditating potentially; my girlfriend has anxiety and she's says that works wonders!

We are really close emotionally, but not physically as we live in different sides of the world at the moment! I've talked to her about her anxiety a lot and now I can understand what she goes through, it's nice to have someone to chat to who can relate, as I'm sure you'll agree
