Hi am aged 40 and been put on HRT elleste duet 2mg

Does anyone know how long these meds take to work?

Also does anyone know if extreme tiredness and depression is related to the menopause as been feeling so unwell?

Yes those are 2 of a huge number of symptoms. I'm also 40 been thrown into medical menopause a few months ago. I sleep between 2-4 hrs a night but still need to function at work and deal with kids. It's difficult isn't it coping when shattered. I'm going to Dr to see if I can start hrt as not sure I can wait another 2 months! From looking at other posts about 2 weeks to start and a few months to get used to it. Is Elleste a tablet? I hope you feel better soon

Hi - I've been on HRT for about 5 years - Premique Low Dose. This definately lifted my mood and allowed me to sleep (halted the hotties !). However - can't get hold of any as all Pharmacies are out of stock and not being replenished. Great shame, will have to change type of HRT, and not looking forward to possible side effects. Any advice from anyone is appreciated.

It sounds like peri-menopause, a time of life when hormones begin to shift, in some cases, quite drastically.   Menopause is actually defined as 12 consecutive months without a cycle.  The symptoms during this time look very similar because of the change in the hormone profile.

Changes in moods and energy are 2 of the many symptoms that can appear in this time.   Check out Femmenessence.   This helps to restore hormones naturally, without introducing any hormones to your body.   Most women will notice that moods and energy are the symptoms to improve in the first 3 weeks os use.

Hi I've been really I'll for last 6 weeks that all started with a severe migraine.I was already on antidepressants from 4 years ago for anxiety which looking back is when I had my 1st scan on my ovaries a my periods had gone haywire which was obviously peri starting.I reduced ads thinking I was ok but anxiety horrendous again and docs also put me on hrt elleste 2 mg he thinks the anxiety is raised because of my hormones in peri as it is a common sign so hopefully they will work and so will yours good luck

      Hi Sarah

I can so identity with your post and the horrendous anxiety feeling like I was losing my mind

I kept going back to go as periods had stopped but he kept insisting I was too young to be in menopause then blood tests confirmed I was

So how have you found the hrt they started working?

Hi kelly I've been having night sweats and irregular periods for over 3 years they didn't want to treat me for ages I've tried HRT twice over past 2 years but didn't seem to make a lot of difference but when this anxiety flared up again and just lately I've had spotting instead of periods and then flooding for 11 days they decided even though the blood test showed my hormones were as they should be the test doesn't always show any difference until your ovaries stop producing eggs so they said it was time for HRT to control my hormones for my anxiety and migraines.Im on elestte duo only been on it 8 days but doc says there's no side effects and it's a good one to take in perimemopause and by the time I get towards end of pack I should feel a lot better as my hormones should start to level off if it helps to make me feel better I'll take it don't know how you feel but I got fed up of them saying I was too young even though my mum was 44 and my grandma 38

      Hi Sarah

Yes my mum was only in her mid 40s, my periods have been irregular for a few years but last one was about a year ago

GP said I needed balance of hrt aw my overies were showing they was in over drive from blood tests

I've had a bad time last couple of years with pain in joints etc and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia but I'm wondering how much has been due to menopause

Hi Kelly prob a lot looking back I've had injections in my hip bad shoulders not slept great for years put unexplained weight on can't consentrate or relax properly look at 34 signs of menopause bet you'll have at least 20 I have and I've also been on stomach tablets in last few years for acid reflux and was also diagnosed with Ibs so I deffo think mine are all menopause related and my mum went on HRT at 44 and stopped at 55 and she said she felt a lot better when she was taking it so hopefully it will work for us
