Newbie, Just started orlistat and would love to know what other people have experienced

Hi, i am new to this site and have just taken my first orlistat prescribed by my GP.
I suffer from chronic FM and have been on Gabapentin and long list of medication for the last two years. The result is I have gained 4 stone and am in no postion to exercise.
My GP does not know if this will help with the weight gain but wants me to have a go on orlistat .
I hope there is some support and advice on how I approach trying to loose weight and maintain a positive outlook. What are the main side effects and please be candid about the orangey thing that has been mentioned.

Welcome to the forum :-)
I'm on my second week of Oristat and apart from one minor mishap resulting in the dreaded "Orange thingy" & a bout of constipation, its been fine for me. Plain and simple, if you dont go over the fat allowance you wont experience it!
It will become habbit to read the the back of cans and packets to see what the fat content is.
I do try to drink lots of water and take a multi vitamin tablet of a night and have completely replaced dairy for Soya. It takes a wee bit of getting used to, but now I rather like it!
As Britney has mentioned, she has lots of tips and advice for Newbies.

As I cannot exercise due to chronic pain it is important for me to get as much advice and tips. Drinking lots of water is not a problem as I love it and I will start looking at fat content on packaging.
My son is getting married next year so it would be nice to loose weight and wear a nice outfit instead of thinking it would have to be a mother of the groom tent. Thankyou x

The fact that you have no problem with drinking extra water is a great start and what a lovely thing to aim for, weddings are such special occasions, especially when its one of our children.
I am sure you will be the second most beautiful woman at your sons wedding and make him very very proud of you!
I have found this forum very friendly and informative, with useful hints and tips coming up almost daily. I have 6 stones to shift, which quite a bit to loose, I feel its very important to not allow ourselves to get into a rutt and become bored with it all. I try to experiment a little with my food and try new things, so far, so good! :-)

I was so scared about the effects it would have on my bowel movements to start with that its made me look twice at the contents and packaging of things im eating. Luckily i havent had any of the orange oil, i'm hoping i never have it.
I have about 7-8 stone to shift before my own wedding in march 2017.
Good luck with the weight loss. x
