newly diagnosed

I have a question that I hope someone could help me with. I just went to the doctor last Thursday because of an irritated area near the entrance of my vagina. it started out as this a little burn every now and then to now what feels like a very raw feeling now. So last week I made an appointment with my doctor and they did an std check on me and an exam. He said he believed it to be herpes but it's just a very tiny pink area that never blistered or anything. He prescribed me an antiviral to get rid of that it I'm on day 3 now. My question is how long does it take for the antiviral to make it go away?

My symptoms include

burning sensation when I urinate

Abdominal pain in my ovaries

No pain unless I urinate or touch the small area.

Did he even swab it or have you take a blood test? Antivirals take longer to make stuff clear up, if the symptoms popped up physically first, before you started the meds. It's best to catch it w in 72hrs I think of symptoms or less

He did swab it and they did a blood test in another office but they don't test for herpes there for some reason. I'm waiting on blood work to get back. I guess he diagnosed me just from the exam and my symptoms. I'm so devastated I have never had to worry about having an STD. I blame myself for being so stupid and having unprotected sex multiple times. But I'm a big girl and I will deal with the consequences of my actions. sad

      When were you sexually active?

Are yiu in that much pain? Are you itchy at all? They help to speed things up, but on a primary ob, you more or less have to ride it out.

Nope doesn't itch at all and its just the small area. Iv looked and I can't really see anything out of the ordinary but it is painful when urine gets on that area and if I touch it it burns. The way I describe it is the way a burn would feel like if you had burn yourself on the hand or wherever. Sensitive to everything.

That sounds like herpes. How long ago did you have sexual contact?

Nothing I have read online can tell me how long it takes the antiviral to make the symptoms go away. On another note I hope I'm being treated for the right thing and not prolong this agany any longer.

That's what my first outbreak was like. The meds will take a while to get into your system so like a week or so at first then later it doesn't take so long

Thanks everyone for your responses. Feel broken its been about 2 weeks ago now but I was in a sexual relationship with the same guy for about 3 weeks. He clames he doesn't have herpes and had an std check in December but little did I know he was a pathological liar. I never saw anything in our sexual incounters.

Also do you know any ointments that will help?

It wouldn't matter anyway, most people don't know and especially men, that herpes is not included in a full std panel.

I'm sorry you're going through this and he lied. I was lied to as well and it was my first time having sex in two yrs!

To help w the pain, apply Vaseline, a heavy coat over the sore area and this will provide protection from friction and when you urinate.

Cold pressed coconut oil should help as well. Take Epsom salt baths daily and soak for a long time.

Feel broken thank you so much! I have been using A and D ointment and it seems to help but I will definitely try the vaseline. Any other advice is very much appreciated. Also I would like to ask how long after an outbreak is gone is it safe to have intercourse again? Just curious.

They say 5-7 days I believe yo make sure the viral load has gone back down.

The most important thing to do is to boost your immune system. 70% of your immune system is in your gut. Due to the processed foods, lots of yeast and sugar, this throws off our pH balance in our gut, which weakens our immune system. This biggest help for me and it will help prevent yeast and BV infections, was taking a live culture probiotic and one w multiple bacteria in it, high doses of vitamin C, D,Bs, zinc and magnesium...

Late nights drinking heavily arw triggers for an ob for me. My cycle brings about an ob as well

Thanks again! So I should try to eat yogurt , foods high in sugar and a live coulture probiotic vitamin?

Stay away from foods high in sugar and eat more naturally. Yogurt is good, but I think a live culture probiotic that has a capsule that allows it to get last the stomach acid and be aborved in the intestines is best. Yogurt is getting digested and there for the good bacteria is destroyed by acid

Feel broken could you tell me if the antiviral makes you groggy and tired feeling? I have been on it for 5 days now and it seems that yesterday and today I have felt like I have no energy. Also I haven't saw much improvement yet could this get worse before it gets better?

I think they can a little (I'm fatigue all the time from autoimmune disorder.. Thyroid issues, but also since getting g hsv 2), but this is likely being caused from having your first ob. I remember about 5 days-6 days after exposure, I had severe fatigue and alls I could do was sleep and sleep and sleep. This is your immune system going in over drive. When I had an internal ob the other week, while on my period, I went to am amusement park and after 5hrs of walking around, I had this debilitating fatigue and heavieness in my lower body. I've never experienced this until having hsv 2. I had it after doing a run in March as well. I will sleep for like 15hrs and still feel tired. It's like it takes me days to feel slightly normal again.

Honestly, I got worse before I got better. I really feel like the meds don't help much for your primary ob, unless you catch it w in 24-48hrs of symptoms.

Are you experiencing any other symptoms? Hey listen, you're doing pretty good at this point. I had severe neuropathy that required me to go to the ER a week and a half after infection and from when sores had already broke out and most ulcerated. I remember about day 7-8, I counted 22 external sores on me. That is not including inside or on my butt. I felt like a burn victim on my buytock and back of thighs, w electrical shocks going to each sore, to my feet, inside vagina and inside rectum. I couldn't sit up for two weeks and had to be out on anticonvulsant medication, that takes time to build in your system to get rid of the nerve pain and has a set of horrific side effects. Just hang in there, it'll get better I promise.

What yiu need to do right now, is load up your immune system w all the stuff I told you too. You need to take 4xs the daily dose during your outbreak, cause your body will deplete it faster while battling an infection.

Like I said hun, it sux and I wish there was more than can be done, but the first ob you gotta just grin and bear it. It is horrible I know, but you will get through this and you will feel normal again. Feel free to privately message me if you just need to talk for emotional support.

Thank you so much for your support! I haven't told anyone not even my life long best friend and I don't plan on it. That leaves it with just me and only me to deal with. I'm ashamed of being do stupid. Thanks again for all your support it means so much right now.

Hun, I don't blame you. I told more people than I should have and regret doing so. I just felt like I couldn't hold it in. I remember the first couple months after, I couldn't even speak to an acquaintance in my workout class w out feeling like I was lying and hearing herpes, heroes, herpes in the back of my head. I had to literally lock myself in my house, until I could get past this strange stage. I couldn't have made it w out two gfs. I didn't start going to a forum until 5 months after having it, which is why I tey to respond to everyone, because it is the loneliest feeling in the world. The statistics and even fellow friends who have it, didn't take away the loneliness. They don't want to talk about it much, because they want to forget they have it, but when you're going through it, that's all you want to do, is talk about jte. Some people can't handle talking about it, w out it bringing them back to feeling like they did, when they got diagnosed. So I get it.

How old are you hun? Do you have anymore symptoms?
