could a visual diagnosis be wrong?

my gp said it does not look like herpes but it looks aggravated from the veet cream I used & could be infected ingrown hairs but I was diagnosed today at a sexual health clinic she said she knew by looking

BUT I used veet three times & it burnt me twice leaving scarring. & it looks raw & fleshy from where the veet burned.

a week after I found several ulcers on my genitals after experiencing burning, soreness & itching from veet?

A visual diagnosis could be wrong but it does look like herpes to me too.

I went to my gp doctor first who said it was a UTI but to go to the GUM clinic to get tested. The nurse there took one look and said it's herpes so took swabs for testing. It seems as though general practice doctors don't have much knowledge or experience of herpes so the sexual clinic is the best place to go.

Did they swab and give you medication?

Only results of the swab test can say for sure what it is, just because it looks like it doesn't mean 100%

Also the test will tell you which type you have.

Even if it is herpes don't lose hope, it is possible to have a very normal life. Most of the time you'll completely forget you have it and you just have to be aware of symptoms so you know when you are contagious.

If you have any questions just shout

yes.. 100% a visual diagnosis can be wrong... i had a doctor look at me and said that she bet her life that it was and the test came back negative.... but then again, she was a gp... i tend to always trust doctors because they have seen so much and have done it all... but no one is perfect... at least not yet路
