They told me to not take laxatives since i cant get up and run so i just take softners and just wait...its going on a week and a half..my stomach is starting to hurt so im just waiting for a release...any suggestions

I had stool softeners in the hospital and they gave me Miralax and it worked and was very gentle. YES it's time to be concerned after a week and a half. You might want to call your Dr. Impaction is awful and sometimes needs to be removed manually.

I also used Miralax along with ACTIVIA yogurt.  Because I also couldn't get to the br quickly I took a half dose of Miralax for 2 mornings in a row along with 2 or three yogurts each day.  After more than a week I did go.  If I didn't go after taking these for three days, I was going to increase the Miralax to a full dose.  Drink lots of liquids with it.  The Miralax is really quite gentle and works very well.  I've taken it in the past as a prep for some tests.  I took a full bottle of Miralax in a half galllon of Gatorade over two hours for a Colonoscopy.  No pain.  No cramps. Boy did it ever work.!

      Good luck.

Have you tried an enima? Fleet works pretty well.

Are you eating adequately and drinking lots of fluids because if your not softeners want work well, try some added fruit and vegetables and fibre.

The sooner you go the better.

I drink plenty of water and as far as fruit goes i have been eating oranges...maybe i shall try prunes next

Banana always does it for me or lentil soup. Are you drinking plenty of water? That will soften the stool and also get it moving. They gave 3out of 5 of us in my bay an enema. Didn't work very well within two days of being home and having banana eureka!  I would call your doc though as it's a long time not to go.

Hi, sorry to be even grosser but after over a week what's nearest the outside is likely to be hard and compacted so any movement is likely to be difficult. If required warm soapy water on your fingers helps (I'll leave the details to your imagination ! ) Lisa.

It was 5 or 6 days for me. I was in the hospital for 5 days after surgery and they kept giving me stool softeners and mirolax and when it came it came. A week and a half is something you should ask your doctor about. They do have supositories for impaction.

I was given laxido to bring home from hospital, and also senna tablets. I recommend prunes, dates, sweet corn, spinach. Linseeds are good, you can grind them up and have them on cereal. Best of luck.
