Hello- for 18 months ive had on & off itching sensations in my vulvar region. They occur in the upper thighs, inner vagina (where a tampon would be), pubic hair region sometimes, but mostly in the lips of the vagina. It is basically all day every day on and off. Sometimes it feels like a stinging senstation. Not painful, just annoying. I also tend to feel like I need to urinate more, and it feels raw to the touch sometimes. I havent had intercourse in months because the last time I did, it felt uncomfortable.
When it started, I was told I had yeast by my OBGYN. So I took diflucan, monistat, even inserted boric acid suppositories and yogurt. Months went by seeing 5 different doctors and besides an occaisional diagnosis of Yeast or BV (treated with Flagyl) they didnt have any ideas. I had them do cultures 3-4 different times since then, for chlamydia, gonorhea, trich, yeast and BV. All of them came back negative multiple times. Last june my symptoms came back bad. I went to my PCP and had blood work done for HIV, herpes, and a ton of other things. My blood sugar levels, etc. Everything came back normal. Im 23 years old so I'm certain it couldnt be a hormonal issue, but I'm running out of ideas. I've taken probiotics, changed to all unscented soaps and lotions, etc.

She also said the rest looked normal.
I do have the mirena coil IUD however, which is inside my uterus and could be the cause of my problems, so I have researched other forums to see if other people have the same problems and they do!
The doctor referred me for an ultra sound scan which is on friday, and possibly a gyneacologist referral if needed, however I have made an appointment with the local gum clinic to discuss removing my coil, as I am now convinced it is the root of my problems, rather than any infections.
What contraception are you using? it could be the cause x
