No more Esmya

Thank god for this forum if it wasn't for someone telling me about the health scare I wouldn't have known. So I went to the doctors today armed with the paperwork saying women to have no more Esmya without liver blood tests and she was shocked she hadn't heard about it . I asked if I should start my next course and she said no and booked me in for a blood test tomorrow. So ladies if you are using this medication to shrink fibroids check in with your doctor xx

Diane , when I asked why wasn't I contacted about this she looked on my notes and Esmya wasn't listed on there, she said that was because it was issued by the gynocologist ! Surely it should have been added to my notes especially as the doctor fills out the prescription ??? I was about to start my 3rd course this week so not sure whats going to happen now .

Same here, I found out about this from Mas on this forum, I was seeing a specialist yesterday, (not usual gynie) he knew all about it. My other gynie has prescribed it for me 4 times & I have recently finished it. Yet they've known since I started taking it I've had right sided abdominal pain & a liver cyst that has dangerously increased in size. Off to dr's.

Hi Julie,
Your mail this morning prompted me to call my GP, the receptionist said, it would seem it has come back satisfactory. So I suppose that has to be better than not satisfactory. I would have preferred another word than satisfactory but that's enough to put my mind at rest at the moment.

Hello
Interesting reading. So after three months of Esmya and no shrinking, but a liver cyst noticed, should I be worried? Would Esmya have caused this?😣

For any Canadians (or Americans) reading this post, Esmya goes by "Fibristal" in North America and was supposed to be a better alternative (less side-effects) to Lupron injections.
Health Canada has also called for a pause on Fibristal use until further testing/research has been conducted!
