No more glider chair.

hi all, just had a call from surgeons secretary, am now able to fully weight bear, after using a glide chair around the house and a wheelchair outside , due to extensive metal work in hip as had a hole in socket which they found when operating. My bilateral hip replacement has been nothing but amazing no where near as bad as I thought it was going to be.

So onto crutches, feel a bit nervous about walking again hope these new hips hold up.

Hope everyone is well.

Hi Kaye sounds as if you are in a terrible shape I wonder how or why it got so bad, was it because you left it so long to get done, or scared of the operation, or your bones just crumbled so quickly, I have only been aware of all this since Jan this year, I was told I had a bed problem and needed a new flat firmer bed, it was sciatica, but the Xray was proof of the pudding...here I am now awaiting my second left hip doing, and OMG it needs doing, cna hardly walk on it and have to get back to work next week, what happened to you??? please tell us here???

    Kindest regards Ian.

Hi Ian. I was in a bad way but it is all coming together now , this it what happend.  I have rhumatoid arthritis had it for 12 years up until last year had no real problems apart from my left knee which was stiff and painful this was replaced in September 14.   Just after Christmas I got a real bad pain that ran from the middle of my back and down my left leg , went to docs he said it was acute sciatica gave me pain killers and excercises to do which I did.  However by the end of January I couldn't walk was in so much pain I couldn't bear it, but carried on by the middle of February had to go to A & E , I was admited where they did an x Ray and found both my hips were in a bad way, was told then I needed them both replaced and out on the list more pain killers (morphine).

Do eventully had them both replaced on 21/5/15 it wasn't until the surgeon got into my hips he found the other problems, but hey it's all going in the right direction feel brilliant now, but having the other knee replaced soon.

      Best Wishes
