    Hi Katherine;

    I would strongly recommend that you see a doctor and, given your health history plus and exam, (s)he may determine the causes and recommended treatment.

    Vaginal dryness is somewhat common for women of your age. The lining of the vagina, which is usually lubricated with a thin layer of clear fluid, is maintained by the hormone estrogen. However, during and after menopause, estrogen levels drop and reduces the amount of moisture available. It also makes the vagina thinner and less elastic--also known as vaginal atrophy.

    Hope you are able to obtain a satisfactory solution...

    Hi Katherine. I have had a similar problem. A gynaecologist prescribed me pesseries to use twice a week. They contained a small amount of hormone. I now buy a vaginal lubricant from a chemist which I use every 3-4 days and it works really well.

    KY Jelly does have its uses but you do need to find out if there's a medical reason causing the problem. In the long term your GP /gynaecologist could prescribe something that could benefit you in the long term as it did with me. Your vaginal wall will no doubt be very thin. There are pesseries that can help protect and build up your vaginal wall. Seek medical help.
