after a breakout will there be scarring or will the shin go back to normal?

from what i read the first outbreak can take up to 4 weeks then others 2 weeks

my skin never heals and i tested negative for herpes and when i was tried on valacyclovir it hadnt worked but i do have open sores that never completely heal or they heal for a few days to just pink skin. i have no idea what it is
