Normal test results but feel like crap

I swear I am going through perimenopause. Got all the symptoms and shorter cycles. Thought maybe my thyroid was off too. FSH and full panel thyroid came back normal. Anyone else run into this problem?

I have this issue every time they do blood work on me. Everything comes back normal, the hormones, EKG, other blood work, etc. But I still feel horrible most days. I guess we get the symptoms of menopause long before our bodies can catch up. By the time our labs start showing that we are in menopause we've had these symptoms a while. That's why these doctors are so confused because they're going by our blood work so they have actual documentation that this what we're going through. They don't want to be liable as having said that we are in menopause when we may not.

My bloods have all been normal. However, as they can’t find anything else wrong with me I am convinced it is my hormones. I think your FSH level only increases when you are nearing full menopause.

It depends on the day and depends on the doctor. I've been told by my endocrinologist that I was nowhere near meno, but the last bloodwork a few weeks ago showed I was post meno. Then I got my period a week later.

Ever since this started two years ago some doctors said my hormones were low, others said normal. I just don't think there is any accurate way to do the testing since our hormones are always going up and down.

So if it, what's the saying, quacks like a duck..

You've got all the symptoms AND your periods are changing. I'd say that's how you should determine whether or not you are full perimeno.

    Hi Laura

Yes I've had the same experience. They only test one profile for thyroid in this country and I swear you can feel like its off, but your bloods look fine. Usually I go down the road of a process of elimination and rule everything else out first. If you have issues with hormones, it's very easy to have problems with your thyroid too as it's all the endocrine system and hormones are a vital part. I just had my hormone levels done again because I felt they had gone down. The GP said they were normal range, so I fought for a copy of the full results and got in touch with the menopause society nurse. She has reviewed them and is coming back to me this week to recommend an increase to my bhrt, so I was right. Go with your gut Laura. GPs aren't always clear on how to manage this so you may have to do some investigation yourself. Good luck xxx
