Well, I'm 5 months out now. I recently felt like I must have pushed my hip too far because I was suddenly limping. However the extreme weakness/limping only seemed to last a day. My surgeon wanted to see me anyway and he did xrays and said everything was okay. When he asked me to explain exactly how it felt, I had a hard time being specific. My thigh feels 'weird' sometimes where the surgery was and just below, and I sometimes feel a weakness in that leg. Not always but definitely sometimes. He said that one of my lower discs in my back is slightly turned and that could cause weakness in my leg as it leans on a nerve. I'm not sure what to think. It's been a few weeks now and I still have times when that thigh/leg suddenly feels weaker. The surgeon said to keep in mind that it takes a good 12-18 months before you're fully recovered from the surgery.

I don't know if this helps at all or relates to your experience, but I thought I'd share what seems to me to be a somewhat similar experience.

It sure helps me!! I've been feeling that tight weird feeling when i walk. My butt muscle hurts too when I'm walking. I'm 11 weeks out from my hip revision. Just started out patient physical therapy this week. I get discouraged a lot! Thanks for comment! 🙂 LD

Just had mine done and was told it takes 6-12 months before everything ' settles down ' . You are only 4 months in . My

Mum in law had similar surgery and had lots of niggles up to a year after but now she feels nothing . I think you just have to suck it and see and trust it is all still settling in . Good luck

Anna - still early days yet, my specilaist told me would take a year before I was fully healed up, and even then would still be healing.

How many years did you walk around with a worn out hip joint, the old hip joint, it would have affected the way you walk, limping, all adjustments you have to make now you have your nice shiny new hip joint.

One day you will realise that you have not thought for days about your new hip. I think in the fairly early day she everyone is very bodily aware, looking for improvements, potential problems and general aches and pains. As you heal and your body gets used to the new parts you relax both mentally and physically and just live. I was told many times that complete healing takes a time least a year, you have a way to go yet

    hi anna,

like mentioned in previous posts, 16 weeks is still early in recovery from this major surgery - good to know that everything is okay though --

I do feel the hardware too - most likely they are the muscles around the prothesis that are healing and getting stronger - bone is growing into the part as well -

You possibly might feel it for a while and it is all healing and growing pains - unless the pain gets worse or changes -

One step and one day at a time, darling -

    how are you doing otherwise?

    big warm hug

      Hi Anna,

I am doing okay - lot of other health challenges though ... apparently I have an allergic reaction to the fertilizing, manure or whatever they call it - I get almost flu-like symptoms immediately and respitory problems that ended in pneumonia ---

I am not used to living in the country, I am afraid - Lived in Los Angeles for 34 years and am back in Holland since June 2014 ... hmm, i did way better in polluted city air eek - and sunshine - oh well

It is getting colder here Anna and I feel the rods in my thighs ...
