Not sure if fibro is what i have

Hi guys! I hope you guys can help me a bit smile

Ive been through so much since last year in august.it all started after i had a tooth feeling done. I had so much pain on my face and neck after it and went to see gp which said sinus infection i took about 3 rounds of antibiotics i wasnt goinf away.

Went to see ent specialist, done mri of head found some liquids in my sinuses and said no surgery needed. During this time i was so stressed all my muscles where hurting me.

Went to have a massage and after that i started getting muscle twitching and i got even more scared. Went to see gp she tested for arthritis i guess like ESR, CRP and see also tested for thyroid all came back good apart from CRP which she said i had ro do it again. When i have done it again it came back fine.

She then send me to a reumatologist which checked my joints as al of them makes grinding and clicking noises and said im hypermobile and the pain is all mechanic and send me on my way ( he even opened the door for me to leave) without any meds. Went back to gp said i was not happy and she said that i might have fibro and to try 10mg nortriptyline at night to see how i feel.

Also my period is not coming normally as it should.

Right now my upper and lower back is painfull and my ankles and arms and still have twitches so i dnt know if thats normal with fibro or i might have something else?!?

Just to mention im 22 years old, female...and im just so upset that i might have this so early in life. I can still do some exercises as pain is not that bad amd try not to take any painkillers but im so scare that if i started getting fibro at this age that it might get worse in future.

If you guys can help me with some answers..at what age did u guys get fibro and did it get worse? Is muscle twitching a symptom of it? Should i get the gp to refer me to a rheumy again to make sure this is what i have????

Thanks for your answers xxx

That sounds familiar I often get problems with my sinuses, Ive had thyroid test done to they were all fine, got sent to rheumatology, they said I click because Im hypermobile and I got sent back to my GP. Luckily my GP is very good and shes sent my to physio for my neck and back pain. But I can relate to this as I am only 25 but I've had symptoms and frequent GP visits for years. Reading online it can be years before you actually get a diagnosis because Drs tend to test everything else first. I was pretty upset but I had been feeling ill for a while so I also wasnt that shocked.

Im working with my GP now to try and find a something that works so we'll see.

I also have a physio appointment in April. Lets see how that goes.

I have tried acupuncture and acupressure which helped with pain but i stopped as i cant afford it anymore... I do not know what else to try ☺️

Physio has helped me before but it also exhausts me so I have to be careful. Ive not had acupuncture but my GP also said to try and start going to the gym and light exercise but I tend to be either in pain or very tired after it so I've lost motiviation on that side at the moment. I know when you get a bad patch of pain its horrible and I get muscle twitches that drive me insane.

    Hi Bibi

My pains started as throbbing pain in my right hand with shooting pains down my arm starting from shoulders. I was 23 yrs at the time. At first my GP thought it was R.S.I. and put me on anti-flammatory tabs. It was then thought it could be carpal tunnel syndrome. Throughout my years I have seen a physio, had acupuncture, refexology, chiropractic, also sorts of scans MRI, even tried chinese herbal remedies along with many old wives remedies that the family say to try........over 20 years now and just got diagnosed with Fibro. My ankles and hands do swell if I have not rested.

I now also trying Ayruvedic hot oil head to toe massages, but unfortunately this has been far to painful for me. I have been sceptical of massages over the years and once I knew that the GP has confirmed it Fibro I thought I go and see advice with alternative treatments. It's early statges but will keep you all posted if I get any relief over the coming weeks.  Although the massages have been put on hold as I am in severe pain the specialist is also trying some herbal remedies.

It's all trial and error and everyone is different !!

I was wondering if the pain gets worse in time or it stays the same... I think mine was caused by too much stress and a sinus infection that i had after i got a tooth done

      Stay calm and positive.

I work part-time and work 5hrs a day. My work involves data entry. I have been working part-time since 1998 due to having kids.

If you have the will-power an take a day at time you will get through it all.

Thats really good if youre still able to work as some people that have fibro cant work at all...i dont know what type of work is better...more sitting down or standing up... 😳

I still work a full time job. Its tiring but I have a good boss and he understands I get good and bad days. Work is really important to me with having Fibro because it makes me get up and do things and it helps me keep going.

Hi Bibi, you are very young to get this but it really isn't the end of the world for you. At your age they may find a cure before you're much older! It is strange that it started with dental treatment, it sounds like you had trigeminal neuralgia, man incredibly painful condition that affects three nerves running up the side of the face. It's possible it started other things off.

Firstly i I would say if you need painkillers take them, why would you suffer needlessly. Secondly, yes get re-referred to a rheumatologist, see if you can get some information about which Rheumatoligist s treat FM, perhaps you know someone who works at the hospital?

it is hard to say when I got FM, I had a lot of random pains as a child, who knows if that was FM definitely wouldn't have been "invented" back then. Or, I had Reactive Arthscopathy in my early thirties, did it start with that, or when I had a serious car accident in my late twenties, it's such a strange collection of different symptoms that can change on a daily basis.

look after yourself, keep moving and keep warm, I hope you get a diagnosis soon.

      Thanks for your comment! 😊

I hate that gp doesnt want to send me for a second opinion from another rheumy becau she said to try nortriptyline first which i did take for 20 days when i had the that bad facial pain and it did help with that.

Ive started taking it again to see if it helps and ive been to the gym today too. I also take magnesium, fish oil, vit A and e and q10 i think its called but it doesnt help much maybe with the twitching as i dnt twich so much now like i used too.

You should try acupuncture as it really helped me and accupressure but i cnt afford it anymore

      Take care xxx

I've seen both a neurologist and a neurosurgeon neither could offer any help. I have prolapsed discs in my neck which cause nerve pain but the neurosurgeon said they weren't in a place he could operate. The neurologist said he can't treat FM, if I had MS he could treat me but I don't have the brain lesions. You have a right to be referred to a different Rheumatoligist, suggest if she refers you now you will still have time to try any meds she wants to try before you are seen.
