Not sure this is what I have

Hi I am new to the forum. Some background. My daughter was getting married last April and I started to get pain in my anal area. The pain is burning, itching, irritation, my rectal area feels full, like a heavy feeling. I thought it was hemorrhoids. Over the past year I have been to Gastroenterologists, and rectal doctors focusing on hemorrhoids. I had a colonoscopy(was due). They have found nothing wrong in the anus. I also started to get what feels like nerve pain. When I press my anus or cheeks I feel like pins poking. I just went to another rectal Dr and she saw a little irritation inside and gave me hydrocortisone ointment. I started trying to figure out where the nerve pain was coming from and figured out it was coming from my butt crack. As soon as I touched it it is intense. I went and looked with a mirror and there is a red line from the top to the bottom of my crack. A very thin line but it hurts. I'm assuming the pain is radiating down and is making my anal area feel like that. I've only been using the ointment for two days. The thing is this has been going on for a year and I never noticed the red line and never felt the pain there upon touching. But Ive been dealing with the pain for a year. I don't know when the red line started. And its hard to notice unless you're really looking. I started looking to see what the red line could and on another website someone posted a pic of theirs and it looks like mine. They said they were diagnosed with LS. I found this forum and read that this mostly happens in the vagina and the spots are white. I don't have it in my vagina, just that small area in my butt crack. It's mostly red but when I looked again it looks like there could be some white but its not patches but maybe like what a canker sore would look like. It's hard to see because of the awkward position so I'm not sure. I also have thyroid issues. In remission with Graves and have Hashimotos. So I'm wondering if anyone has had it in the butt crack and with a red line? Thank you!

Hello Bonnie, I do not have a red line, at least I don't see one but have some rectal area pain only on the right side and only on the skin. The gynos say it is nerve pain and prescribed gabapentin. Also have steroid but you have to be careful with that. LS rarely occurs in the vagina but usually occurs on the labia or vulvar tissue. It can itch, burn or feel sore. Do you use any coconut or olive oil? Vaseline may help. If you have thyroid problems then it is possible you may have thyroid antibodies like I do and antibodies are associated with LS. They don't think they are causing the LS ( 3 doctors tell me) but they are associated with it. Where antibodies are found, LS is also often found. Therefore, an autoimmune (AI) cause is suspected. Do you have any other AI or skin problems?

Do you have LS? Is it in your rectal area? I noticed above the red line there is a purple/gray line , looks like a vein. I'm not sure if that's normal. I've been using a hydrocortisone ointment the rectal Dr gave me. It has helped the red go down some and the area isn't as painful to touch as it was before. I don't see any white areas. I've only been using it for three days. The Dr said it takes about three weeks of use for it to really help. She hasn't diagnosed me with LS because she didn't see the red line in the crack area. She gave it to me for some redness inside the actual anal area but she said that wasn't even that bad. She mentioned possible nerve pain but wanted me to try this. After I saw the red line I called and asked if it could be LS. The nurse was familiar with it and said it could be and the ointment the Dr gave me was for that. When I go back to her in a month I'll have her look at it. The burning and itching is calming down but I 'm still having this weird sensation around the opening like a fullness/heaviness. That area was checked out extensively and there's nothing wrong there visibly. I don't know if what is going on in the crack is radiating down or there's another issue. Maybe nerve pain. Can LS cause nerve pain? I don't have anything on my labia area or anywhere near that. I do have thyroid antibodies. And I do have other skin things. I get these weird scratches from time to time, small ones. My skin burns and than there's a scratch. Or my skin breaks open and bleeds a little. I don't know if that is a dry skin issue or something with my thyroid. I haven't been able to narrow that down. I do use coconut oil in my vaginal area for dryness there from menopause. The gyno said that was ok and I've been doing it for years. What does coconut oil do for this? Do you have LS in your anal area? And what do they relate your nerve pain to? Do you get that fullness feeling like I described? Can LS cause this kind of pain? It's really frustrating. I guess i just have to work with the Dr to figure it out and see if there's anything I can do about it. The pain gets me very moody and is taking away my quality of life. Thanks for answering me
