Well that went really bad. Asked me a few questions, she only noted what suited her.
She then said I'd be really suprised to know that according to recent research 'Royal college of obsteritions and gynaecology research ' recovery time after gynaecology surgery, to return to everyday normal activities is 3/4 weeks and therefore know need to ask for light office work, therefore the only barrier to returning to normal work is myself! Can you believe that???
I tried reasoning with her, everyones recovery different and presented my Nhs leaflet, which phisio agreed with. She refused to look at it, didn't even look at my discharge letter.
I said I was under care of Gp and consultant and had already agreed with employer to return to light office duties if possible if OK with Gp. She said that was unnecessary as - (quoted royal college again and said can return to normal till / packingbags/ self scan on feet as normal at 3/4 weeks.
She asked for permission to send her report to my employer, I said I disagreed with what she was saying and that as she was not a specialist ( I did ask if she specialised in surgical gynocology) she could not possibly know recovery time as only my consultant would know the extent of my repair and the condition of my insides. She was starting to get impatient and using a sharp tone demanded to know if I would give permission to send her report to employer, saying she had not much time ( hadn't been their for hour and a half), said again did not agree with her and asked for her phone number so that I could let her know once I had time to discuss this further with my GP on Wednesday, she then said no not done like that I must answer now, I said I couldn't as I don't see how this could be right, she then said their was no point to this discussion any longer as it was pointless as I was arguing with her. So I said so be it as it was obviously about wether I should be paid or not, I said that it was more important that I had time to recover than, and how long can they hold my job open unpaid and she said she had nothing to do with employment law. I said that I am sure that employers must follow due care policy and reminded her that I had already shown willingness to return to work if they could find some light office work, but again quoted RCOG research repeating 3/4week recovery.so again asked me for permission to pass on her opinionated report that missed out the stuff she had waved aside. So I said no, gathered my letters and leaflets , said goodbye and left.
Probably will have my pay cut now and maybe no job either. But will not be bullied into returnING to heavy manual work before I'm ready!

She probably realized at that point that she was not going to manage to persuade me otherwise.
Just waiting to see what next move is going to be , GP reckons you were right that if I go back on light duties they will just take advantage and before I know it will be back on heavy duties!
Daughter is furious and is getting some advice, reckons I shouldn't let thus go but I don't really have the fight in me , just glad to hope GP has sorted it!

It's pelvic floor repair operation recovering well leaflet
Online add is RCOG org UK patient leaflets. This was all I could find so think that's what she was on about. Recovery timetable appears to say that most should be able to return by 3/4 weeks which is allowing her to bully women into returning to quick. She claims thus is based on most recent research done.
Hope you find it , appears to be a registered charity funding research.

She basically said I did not need doctor to say I could return to work that it was my decision and any how most people didn't get consultant appointments anymore as it was unnecessary. Can't mention the store I work for but after I got home later that dayy hubby Google occupational health and my store came up very early on listinga. When you go into comments every seems to have similar experience . My store is a large company who have rolled this policy out hiring this company to safe them money, and other companies are talking of adopting the same procedures. It is rather frightening especially as there will be many who will return to work when really they should not!

The whole recovery is like trying to avoid pitfalls of an assault course, even if you don't have complications as such ?

A complication would be an infection or a lot of pain post op. Unable to have your bowels opened or unable to pee. But complications aside after this surgery you shouldn't be returning to work until at least 6 weeks if you are part time with no standing or 8 weeks onward depending on what job you do. If you have to sit or stand for long periods then more like 10-12 weeks. I went back after 13 weeks and on graduated return x

These type of bully tactics make me really angry As if we hadnt enough to go through? They read from a bloody leaflet and think they know what they are talking about! Find out who she is and complain. See your doctor and get signed off and tell her about the bullying...Your health comes first...I was bullied about having time off at work for UTI's....in the end I gave it up and went temping. You go girl! xxxx

It certainly would be very tempting to just agree with her and just go back. My first reaction was pure shock and I did attempt t
