OCD & Perimenopause - any experiences?

I was diagnosed with OCD (Rocd) 11 years ago out of the blue after a reaction to some medication. After some cbt it went away and I've been fine for 10 years. Had the same family of medication again last year and it came back - however I am now going through perimenopause and it is hell. I've been feeling dire now for 12 months. I'm on HRT which isn't really helping at the moment, although I am having patches where I do feel really OK, (but not for longer than about 11 or 12 days. I presume my own hormones are still all over the place abs exaggerating the ocd. I'm not taking any medication, but have GP face to face appointment early December. Anyone with ocd and menopausal with any advice?

Thanks for replying - I had that too to start with! It was Omeprazole and then Lansoprazole (PPI'S - stomach medicine). Are you on any medication for it?

Yes, I've read up on it. I think for most people the side effects go (they did for me the first time - although it took 6 months to a year and cbt). But with perimenopause hitting at the same time it's obviously exacerbating things 😏

I too have awful OCD.. and is definitely worse when the hormones shift! mine is germs doorknobs hand washing touching things ..phobias heights bugs spiders.. many different things ..its exhausting..ive always been a worrier about everything what if this or what if that..when peri hit me hard at 45 everything intensified x100..i did do the cbt for a while ..for me it did not help at all..it try and meditate yoga stretches keep busy and stay grounded ..if I m having an anxiety attack..i try and breathe and focus..they say you can train the brain to think differently..i just say this is me and I plug along the best as I can..and try very hard not to let it get the best of me..and on the days its extra bad I just deal with it like the other peri symptoms which are very intense also all of them..
