On and off pain over eye

I know it has been written about headaches often, I seem to be getting over eye pain over one eye, the sinus area, it has been on and off for a few days, the intolerence to bright lights have got worse again, I thought that was getting better, I just wondered if anyone else experiences this on and off thing with the eyes and particularly the pressure felt over the eye

I had this once and was related to me grinding my teeth in the night. I was pressing a nerve in one of my back teeth and after a new dressing and filling was applied I was ok. And I now wear a sleep guard on lower teeth which helps with the grinding.

It's amazing how the jaw and temple area are related. And to the sinuses.

Oh really was it, yes it is amazing how it is all connected, I think it's more to do with perhaps allergies, I have very runny eyes sometimes and I'm wondering if the sinus is getting Congested? X

I used to swear by a product called Karvol (a decongestant drop) when I was younger and had a similar pain after a night out! (A hangover!)  I know, I 've learnt my lesson now I'm older and wiser. It was like a comfort blanket and I craved the smell. I knew it would instantly make me feel better. They discontinued it for some reason. I've tried Olbas oil but there's an ingredient missing. I could never quite get the same relief from it.

Also I have a quartz crystal which is the perfect shape for holding against my temple. A bit of an airy fairy belief in alternative medicines but whatever works is good I say!  The coldness gives a temporary relief. Touch wood, I haven't needed them for a while but your symptoms brought back memories of the pain and desperation for some sort of relief.

Hope you find something that works for you x

Hey, I get this all the time I find it's worse when I drink less the day before, I know how you feel as this is a awful pain and when I have it I struggle to cope with background noise, every symptom of the menopause is horrid! I also get a lot of floaters and flashing lights in my eyes too and neck pain with it! Sometimes the pain lasts a day with me and sometimes for a week or more, I hope yours eases soon xxx

I have quite bad problems like this. I have pain over and behind my left eye, blocked painful nose  and sinus on the same side and tinnitus.  It has got worse just in the last few days. I'm waiting for a follow up ENT appt. to see if I need some sort of procedure - but they are really dragging their feet over it. Very frustrating!

Oh yes poor you it sounds like it's all going on there, yes it feels like a sinus pain, nothing else at the moment seems affected, I did have some migraine aura going on the last day or so and my eyes seem quite sensitive to light at the moment and I'm getting watery eyes still x

Hi pinkcatfairy, yes I had something similar. My eye doctor recommended I warm an egg and place it over my eye, when the pain got bad. It worked but it took about a week for the symptoms to completely go away. I would suspect putting anything warm over the eye would help, the egg is best to control the temperature and you can reheat the egg everyday. Leave it on until the egg;s heat is gone and start over again. Hope this helps.
