On fluoxetine.. thinking of changing? Help!

I've been on fluoxetine for 7 months now. I'm on 40mg mostly for anxiety and abit of depression. Whilst I feel ok I definitely am not where I want to be. I still have a bit of anxiety and my mood has been quite low for the past week. I really don't know what to do! I've previously been on lexapro which worked really well for a couple of years until it pooped out. I don't want to increase the Prozac because I've been having some sleeping problems since being on the 40mg dose and don't need these getting worse.
I guess I'm just wondering if I should try a different med or stick it out on the Prozac? Surely I would be getting the maximum benefit from it 7 months in?
Any advice would be so appreciated!

It's frustrating isn't it?! It took forever for it to kick in for me and only started to work ok when I went up to 40mg.
I'm thinking of asking my doc about trying Celexa as it's so similar to lexapro that worked so well for me in the past but absolutely dreading starting another med 😭
Is this your first time on SSRI's? X

But don't get me wrong it might be perfect for you it's just that Prozac is famous for taking a long time to reach full affect x

I know the feeling but we have to keep fighting! Maybe it's worth trying a new med?
I'm seeing my doc this week.. I'm going to ask what she thinks. The sleeping issue is driving me nuts!

I've got the doc on Tuesday this week see what she says I'm reluctant to switch new Meds as it will be starting from scratch with side effects again I don't have a problem falling asleep but I do wake up about 5am thats me anxiety starts and the body tremors nauseous I start to relax in the evening but then it starts again in the morning

Hi Catherine
Just wanted to check in and see how you're going? How did you go at the doctors?
I saw my doc yesterday and she doesn't want me to change medications.. which I am happy about at the moment. Although I still have a bit of anxiety and down days I am on the whole better than I was 3 months ago. The sleeping is still a problem but I'm hoping now that I am going back down to 30 from 40 that might start to improve.

Thanks for your response 😊 I've been on 40mg for about 2 months now. I thought I was feeling a lot better then went on holiday and forgot to take it half the time.. silly I know.. and have been pretty average since then! So you think just stick it out? The thought of starting again with a new med scares me so much.. I just don't know what to do 😬

Sorry my mistake.. I've been on the 40 since the beginning of June so 12 weeks now. But like I said I went on holiday at the end of June and forgot to take it a lot of the time so I felt like that would have slowed everything down. The sleeping issue is huge for me! I go to sleep ok but wake up a few hours later and either struggle to get back to sleep or toss and turn the rest of the night. I wonder if its the Prozac or the anxiety etc doing it..
Did you have trouble sleeping?

Hey Ria! If you've only been on the 40mg for 2 months, it could take up to 12 weeks to kick in! I've seen many times where people have increased and it took 12 weeks or so to get the full benefit. When you increase, it can almost be like starting over unfortunately

Hey! Thanks 😊 I actually got the dates wrong and have been on the 40 since the beginning of June. But I went on holiday at the end of June and forgot to take it probably more than half the time so I feel like I took a huge step backwards there.
It's just so frustrating when I haven't been feeling great for probably around a year now.
Thanks for replying x
