I was fine up to a week ago now im having anxiety and Im having dizzy like symptoms, also my head feels full in the forehead area all the time. Im pacing from anxiety, been told it might be akathisia a side affect of Sertraline use. But I can stop, so I believe it is just from anxiety. I fall asleep well but wake up in the early a.m. around 6:00 a.m. with tight chest and extreme anxiety, almost panic like. Is anyone else in the same frame of mind as I am. Any help would be greatly appreciated. As a side note, Im currently on 25mgs of Sertraline.

As for the full forehead, are you sure is not sinus congestion?  I was miss diagnosed for a couple of months and it was not easy changing medication which had nothing to do with the symstoms. (

      Hello Mary15481

Im currently on 25mgs of Sertraline, and have been for ten weeks. Wondering if it's anxiety or if it's side effects from the drug itself.

      Hi, Mary..

Regarding your symptoms, Sertraline can cause anxiousness, restlessness, irritability as well as other side effects. If you're anxious to begin with, Sertraline can exacerbate your anxiety, particularly when just starting to use it. I wish healthcare practitioners were more cognizant of just how difficult it is for an already anxious person to adjust to these drugs and to treat them accordingly, whether through education (which would be a big help), support and/or anti-anxiety medications.

    Hi, Tobias29673,

I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time. Most here can certainly identify with your struggle. Regarding your symptoms, Sertraline can cause anxiousness, restlessness, irritability and a plethora of other symptoms. Hiya

Sorry to hear you are going through the same thing as me right now!

What dosage are you on I am on 50mg and having a anxiety attacks fast heart rate sweaty and feel awful. I have just given up gluten for stomach problems but did not consult my docotor and quit smoking 8 days ago which Is what I believe is causing this for me. I am seeing a docotor tomorrow and I won't be taking my sertaline until I have .

Have you made any changes to your diet since you have started to feel like this or a dramatic life style change?

I would recommend talking to your doctor ASAP.

I feel as bad as I did when I starter taking them 3 months ago after 2 days of no gluten

Hello Natasha 39304, sorry to hear your having a tough time, hope your doctor had some good information for you. Currently Im Taking 25 mgs. Of Sertraline. I have changed my diet completely, no more caffeine, alchohol, have cut sugar intake drastically and very careful of my sodium intake. I've been on Sertraline before and never had these type of problems. I understand our bodies are changing all the time but didn't expect this type of reaction from the drug. Im torn between this being anxiety or the side affects of Sertraline. Hope you feel better soon!

      Thanks ill be fine smile.

If you have made that many changes to your diet I would right them all down and talk to your docotor someone else advised me your not supposed to change your diet without consulting your docotor first as this can happen I'd give them a ring ASAP and get a telephone appointment or an urgent appointment because of you feel like me sleep will be a massive problem and I'm sure having a raised heart rate can't be good! I will update you after my appointment so you know what I've been told..

      Good luck
