Ongoing blister type rash- similar to chickenpox

I had a virus in Jan and then developed a rash on my arm. I originally thought it was shingles as it was a bit sore. The same mark appeared in a similar place on my other arm. The rash has slowly spread around my body and was particularly. bad around my lower back and buttocks. It is a symmetrical rash. I have a slight build and still have the rash after 5 months. It has spread to my tummy, arms and legs. 

The marks appear as a circular light red rash then a blister appears and it turns deep red and sometimes it looks like a bruise as it starts to fade although they have all left marks/scars.

I have visited my doctor several times and he thinks it's erythema multifore. I am so very frustrated with it as my skin looks awful with the scabs.

I would be so grateful for any advice.
