Im having rectocele and cystocele repair in about 6 weeks. My consultant is sending me for a scan to check my ovaries he said he may have to do a vaginal hysterectomy which i dont really think i want or need. The first doctor i saw said my womb was fairly stable and in place. Got a grade 3 rectocele and grade 2 cystocele. I been so depressed by how my vagina looks and feels since my last child kinda feel broken and its not nice. Has anybody had sucessful surgery im terrified of being worse after or unable to have sex heard some scary stories

I am 5 weeks post op. Recovering slowly but surely. I will probably be off work for 9 weeks. As everyone here has stated you need to have all your questions written down before you have your next appointment with your surgeon. I think you will find your vagina area will look quite a bit different after surgery and more normal. When the prolapse have been lifted things will just fall back into place. Some of the stories on here will make you aprehensive but if surgery is the only option then you need to get things straight in your mind and be positive about what you expect out of this. I am glad I had my rectocele repair. I would say each week things look slightly different down below in the early weeks it all looks a bit scary and messy but as the weeks progress things begin to look normal or even better than normal :-) Good luck

I am now 25, uncomfortable, struggling to poo (sorry!), even constant issues with thrush despite an overhaul on diet (not sure if it's linked). I want another child but hubby doesn't, plus I've finally finished my degree and am a teacher after studying for 5 years.... So no leave entitlements as I'm only casual for the moment.
Since first diagnosed, I've kegeled til the cows come home. No difference. I'm becoming increasingly self conscious and going to the toilet I feel really 'heavy' and when bearing down, feel like I'll fall out.
My gyno is aware of my issue, but I guess I'm just not sure what to do. Should I have surgery? Should I twist hubby's arm a little more ;-) it feels worse while pregnant though :-( will they want to do a hysterectomy??? Aren't I too young for that??
