Hi Megan, I had keyhole surgery so I can only answer with my experience but the hospital I was in was fantastic. I couldn't have wished for better nurses to look after me and give me additional pain relief as I needed it. They also wouldn't let me go until I was really well enough to go as I was very sick afterwards and had very low blood pressure so I didn't leave until the evening when most leave quite early after surgery. They will look after you and if you're in pain tell them and they'll sort some relief out for you.

When are you going in for surgery? Keep me updated with how you get on. Take care x

Hi Megan, we all do silly things when we're younger and now you're going to have surgery to get it removed and your gallbladder.

Please make sure that if you have an increase in pain that you go and see a doctor especially as you're pregnant.

They are really good in hospital so don't worry about pain relief they will make sure that your not suffering but you will need to tell them.

Keep me informed with how everything goes, you've only got 3 months left of your pregnancy and then you can have this needle out and enjoy your newborn.

      Take care of yourself x

Hi. I had open surgery in January. I was given plenty of pain relief whilst in hospital. I had IV morphine, ketamine, dihydrocodeine, paracetamol and anti- inflammatories (diclofenac) at various times. Also IV antibiotics. I had a regular dose and also on demand if needed. I was in hospital for five days. Happy to answer any questions you have about open surgery. Seems like everyone has had keyhole so I had no one to ask about recovery etc! It is a MUCH lengthier recovery period than keyhole surgery.

I had open surgery 04/02/17 and was hospitalised for five days. The pain relief was good. I found it best to use the buttons on the bed to help me sit and get out of bed. Lower the bed to its lowest and raise the back rest to maximum, then use cot sides to swivel to side and assist standing. Do everything very slowly and steadily. For getting back in I found it easier to climb onto bed on my knees then twist into a sitting position and then readjust bed using the buttons. If you have drips etc you obviously have to have help from nurses until these are removed. Try to mobilise as soon as possible as it helps recovery. Good luck!
