In the US the surgeon , staff, or hospital patient support group always go over what the surgery proceedures are details on anesthesia, and forms to fill our pre surgery.
perhaps that is all done the morning of. I would rather have all the information brfor surgery to better prepare.
i wonder if it's to late to check with the hospital or ant infor available .
i would be upset to. Can you reschedule or is this urgent?
I wish I had better information for you. Hopefully someone will respond soon who has had experience in the UK .
prayers and blessings sent your way for surgery tomorrow?

Why didn't you meet with the Surgen? I wouldn't feel comfortable having a surgery before discussing it with the physician who's going to do it.

I would think anywhere in the world you would have to sign releases and permission... I had my surgery May 30 and I felt bad for about a month. BUT I am SO GLAD I had the surgery. My constant nausea is gone, no more throwing up and I gradually went back to a normal diet. If you have had some tests that it needs to come out, it probably does. You will likely have a lot of gas pain for several days afterwards if you have keyhole, and if open the gas pain should be less but the recovery will be longer. I don't know what your pre-op symptoms are, but since I had mine, I have met numerous people who had their gallbladder out and nearly everyone was totally happy they had it done. Good Luck!

Hi Samantha , yes had my pre-assessment with nurse a week before op, but was told I might not see consultant even on the day. Anyway since last text I've had my op on Friday 18/11/16, also got to meet consultant that morning he was very helpful answering all my questions & putting my mind to rest. Thank god all went well & I stayed overnight & came home yesterday. Thanks for replying Xx

Hi, I had mine out a month ago (I'm in the UK). They will always do keyhole unless there are know reasons that this would not be possible - there will always be a small chance that during your surgery they may have to open you up but I think the biggest majority of us have keyhole with no issues!
It really isn't that bad - the pain is bearable although sometimes the gas that they use to inflate you out a little so they can get to everything is a bit painful when it's dispersing after your op.
I had exactly 100 stones removed and after 3 or 4 days I was almost back to normal - please don't worry too much and good luck, let us know how you are! Lisa

Thanks, just putting it out there that it's not that bad - well worth a few days of discomfort if it sorts out gallbladder symptoms! 😊

Hi Lisa thanks for your reply, thank god all went well & I had keyhole surgery so glad it's over. I stayed in hospital one night , I felt fantastic like I'd had nothing done except for sore belly button. Woke up this morning thought I was going to die pain was unbearable, like someone twisting my guts! It calmed down once I went toilet & took pain killers! Not to bad now just very very sore ! Thanks for text xx

So I got to see Consultant in the morning when I arrived very nice man took his time explaining everything he was real assuring & The anesthetise both put me at ease. All done & dusted I got away with keyhole surgery, only now arrived at the ward 22.05pm all good feeling fine. I'm not bad at all especially Only having my knee replacement surgery 6wks ago !
