Operation Tomorrow

Hi Everyone

Well it is my op tomorrow!rolleyes  Everyone here on my retirement complex keeps asking me if I am nervous about tomorrow, I keep saying my head has not got that far yet!  I am fixated on giving myself the injection at 6 p.m. tonight, If I can manage that then I can cope with anything (hopefully)! lol Hubby is on standby to do the injection if I can't - trouble is his poor hands shake something awful, razz he! he! good incentive to make me do it, I hope!

Just like to wish you all a Very Happy Easter and thanks for all your help while I have had the 'long wait' for the op.

Love

Jacqui smile

Wishing you lots of luck (though you won't need it) tomorrow Jacqui, I'm in my 60's and had mine done just before Christmas last year, best thing that could have happened, at our ages you don't expect to have to be coping with 'ladies' problems,  you will feel so much better afterwards, when I first came on this website I never anticipated so many ladies suffering in the same way, you always feel as if you are on your own, everyone on here helped me so much.

    Thinking of you tomorrow.

    Phoebe.

      Hi Phoebe

Thank you very much for your support it means a lot.  He! he! when I first heard the saying 'everything going south' I never for a minute imagined it would be so literal!

I actually managed the injection, Ian was very impressed! rolleyes

You are so right, it is so lovely to hear everybody's stories and how they are coping on this site it is very inspiring.

Will let you know how it goes.

    Hi Jacqueline

I'm 61 and had  my op done 8 weeks ago.  I have been back at my part time job for two weeks and feel fine.  I don't know whether you are having a vaginal hysterectomy - I hope you are - as I had mine done this way and I felt fine from day one - no pain , discomfort or bleeding.  I even returned to jogging at 5 weeks post op!

Good wishes for tomorrow - you will be fine!!

Wow Shani haven't you done well.  I am amazed at your wonderful progress.

Luckily my surgeon always performs vaginal hysterectomies unless there is a complication which makes it impossible so I have my fingers crossed.  It certainly seems to be the best recovery option.

Thank you for your good wishes, you are definitely an inspiration.

Hi Teresa, I really have been so lucky with my op, i can honestly say 8 day's after the op i feel 70% back to normal and want to get back to doing my housework. I am not going too as my hubby is keeping a keen eye on me. I found the bloating the worste thing to cope with but solved it with taking Movicol.

I went into Sheffield Hallamshire hospital and stayed 24 hours. The staff were great.

      Bye

Did you have keyhole surgery?I am having an abdominal which is longer recovery.Even my doctor told me that i could be off work for 3 months..Are you folliwing a recovery plan and if so was week 2 the start of the 2nd week or the end.Just concerned that the first 2 weeks are the critical ones where you should nit do anything at all apart from a little walking. What do you suggest?

      Hi Teresa,

I only had my op last Thursday so i am still just doing a little walking and hardly nothing else. I did have keyhole surgery and was told i should be back to normal in 6 weeks, i can start to iron on the 3rd week and hoover on the 6th.

My friend had what your having 3 weeks ago plus bowel surgery at the same time and she has started to feel ok now but she will be off work 3 months.

Each person is different with the healing. To be honest i feel i could easily iron and hoover now after just 8 days but i am not because i could undo all the good work the surgeon has done. It is hard just sitting around and watching your partner do everything for you but in my case what's 6 weeks?

      Best wishes
