Hi ladies, 11 weeks post op A&P repair., back at work and follow up with consultant was good, two stitches left high up at 6 weeks and told these could take 3 months and it would affect discharge. Some days get very little, some days more. Also been treated for thrush, although the itching has gone I'm still getting a little stinging feeling inside and a feeling that I'm quite moist but when I check my liner is dry and feels like it used to if a tampon was not inserted correctly. I'm back to doing pretty much everything I was before, no heavy lifting though and have still not used the hoover. Do I go back to gp or stop being a wimp. I'm due to see consultant again at the end of the month.

Well firstly carolyn you're not a wimp. How can you be when you've coped so well after major surgery? I really don't know what to advise here because it's how you feel emotionally and physically as to whether you can put up with your symptoms until you see your consultant who is the expert. Do you have confidence in your GP and feel he/she is knowledgeable about gynae problems? The end of July can seem a long time if you are worrying. Can you wait that long or will it eat away at you?

The gp I saw about the thrush was not my usual gp and didn't really examine me, although she was lovely. I have confidence in my gp but unless I get an emergency appointment, it could take 2-3 weeks for an appointment. They did say that if I still had symptoms then to go back. I might ring them to see. I feel fine in myself just frustrated I suppose. Nice to have you back.

Hi carolyn. Would you be able to speak to your GP on the telephone especially as you have to wait some time for an appointment? Often it's just a bit of reassurance we all need from our GP. The recovery from this surgery is very often frustrating.

Yes i think that would be an option. I'll give them a ring tomorrow

Went to see a gp this morning, she said it wasn't worth examining me but has given me 6 days of pessaries and said go back next week if it's not improved then they would need to take swabs, funny really because that's what the last one said last week. I'll give them a try and see how it goes. She didn't fill me with confidence but I may be wrong.

Thank you Gillian, felt a little bit like I did when the swelling was there , just on one side znd nowhere near as bad but that had been better for a few weeks. I'm a medical secretary so sitting at my computer and up and down to the photocopier.

Today has not been a good day with regards to being really sore. Started using the pessaries on Thursday, so used two of 6 so far but seems to be worse today. Discharge seems to be more fluidy (if that's even a word)just inside the vagina seems to be quite red. Thought I was on the mend as yesterday after 1 pessary it was great

Said it was thrush and looking at the symptoms I'm inclined to agree. Initially gave me one pessary send cream but that made very little difference so I went back and now been given a 6 day course of pessary.

No they didn't, didn't really examine me properly the first time and not at all the second.if things don't improve I'll get a urine test done at work as I'm secretary to two urologists. not feeling to bad at the moment but time to use another pessary so I'll see how that goes . I'm back to waddling like a duck instead of walking.
