orlistat and blood tests.

hello, i wanted to ask if anybody has had to have blood tests while taking orlistat? i recieved a letter from the GP saying i have to have routine full blood tests because im taking orlistat and just wondered why this is? by the way iv been on them for 4 monthes. :?

    I was on them for just over a year and never asked, just regular blood pressure when I went to see the nurse for weigh ins.

    Do you have any medical problems that could be affected. I personally would call the GP and ask why you need it and what they are looking for

    thanx suza, i am going to call the GP secretary tomorrow. i do have gall stones but never been asked for blood test before, im guessing maybe it could be about colesterol mine was 5.7 before i lost weight so could be to check thats come down. :?

    hi again i rang dr. today find out why i needed blood test done, it is because i had gestational diabeties (another reason to lose weight) anyway just a check up.... phew :D

    Hi, ive been on orlistat for just over a month and was also asked to take a blood test. I have never had any problems, however the doctor explained to me the reason for this test was to check my liver was functioning fine, as possible side effects for this drug are liver damage ( in very rare circumstances, Not to worry!)
