Reading through some of the postings in here ,it seems no one has mentioned being in favour of Complimentary/Alternative therapies..

I too have conditions, which I have had for a number of years ,namely ,

Aggoraphobia,(over 50 years) IBS (over 25 years),Hemmoroids(over a number of years )..

Aggie(as it is known) was always only diagnosed as having bad nerves for which you were giving tablets (didnt work for me ) IBS was only diagnosed using the fact that if you had 5 of the 6 symptoms then you had IBS (advised to use fibre etc),and the Hemmys ,again not really given a good solution at that time..

Throughout all the years I have only ever used complimentary/Alternative therapies, for each of the problems.

I cannot tell anyone to use these remedies,I can only say how they have worked for me for most of the time, other times when I have been down with depression it has felt harder to deal with ,however I am still alive and on our earth plane at the age of 78,/79 this year,so I think it speaks for itself, the fact that I have used these remedies all this time .

Regards to all who come in here ,and I wish all well

You have followed the road that you believed was right for you. You have reached the age of 78/79 which is a good age and may you live another decade or more. Alternative therapies have always been out there for people who disliked or shied away from traditional medicine.  Good diet, fresh air and plenty of exercise does everybody good, whether they be overweight, anxious or depressed. You have coped with all your physical and mental problems well so you obviously made the right choice for you.

Take care and I wish you well too.

The best way to sort something out is always the way that it has worked.

It's unfortunate but nevertheless human to realise that it often takes hindsight to fully understand this.

All the best to you too Millyimp.

Rod you are so right ,it often takes hindsight to fully understand .

      Hello Tonya,

I take nothing for the Aggie ,for the IBS I have used nothing other than Acidophillus Capsules, and for the Hemmy`s I use a herbal cream, all of which work well for me .

I use a lot of self talk (ie) I read a lot of self help books written by well known authors who are known throught the world.

A well known author, advocates ,that we learn to love our selves as we cannot possibly love anyone else before we love our selves. So,while it seems to be alien to us to do so,if we can carry out her instructions ,it is a tremendous help and benefit .

She does CD`s ,which I listen too ,which too are a tremendous help ,with affirmations ,and meditations too.

Some years ago I did healing ,hands on healing ,taught when I went to my then local church.

Also did crystal healing ,which I no longer do ,but still believe it has a place in the healing world.

I believe there is a power much higher than we ourselves are ,and it is from this Power we are able to be healed and to heal ourselves too .

Not everyone does have this belief ,that is their own choice ,which they are perfectly enetitled to .

I also believe strongly in the power of prayer too.

I took an aromatherapy course some years ago, and a course in massage course ,using essential oils .

When having the usual aches and pains I use all natural remedies ,nothing at all that has drugs in them .

I hope this is of some help to you Tonya, and goes some way to answering your questions

      Goodmorning Tonya,

Many thanks for your reply.I am glad you too believe in the power of prayer, and I fully understnd you wanting to come off medication.

Whilst in some cases people find it works for them ,my own experience it did not ,as explained in my posting above.

The Acidophilus Capsules you are able to buy from any health shop 9not at the chemist or superstore).

It is all I have ever used for my IBS ,I am sure you could find them helpful  for you too. What type of IBS do you haveTonya,my was the D type for a long time ,thenbecame D.sometimes then the C .

At the moment it is giving me no bother .

The fybromyalgia  and vertigo must be also very unpleasant for you ,you have my sympathies.

Where abouts are you located Tonya,I mean what part of the country ?

I am in the north  east of the country..

If at any time you wish to message me in pvt please feel free to do so .

      Hello Tonya,

it seems you have the same type as myself, sometimes a change .but mostly the D type. This is the problem I find with IBS ,I can eat something and be ok with it ,but next time I eat the very same thing I can have adverse affects ,and a bout of IBS ,this makes it difficult to know just what to eat at times.

I fully understand where you are coming from when you say you are careful in what you eat .

I have a drink of Actimel( Probiotic) every morning ,this is the first thing I have ,apart from I also take a multivitamin every morning ,to help with the immune system .The one I take is called Multibionta50+,it is good .

I hope you are not having too much of a problem with your IBS ,and your other problems

      Goodmorning Tonya,

I am sorry to hear you are having problems with your Bowel, and the ensuring pain.

I too become bloated and I tend to have lots of wind too, this wind can give you such a lot of pain Tonya ,and it does so in any part of your body

I discovered this many years ago.

Have you tried eating black licorice or eating chocolate raisins, both are good for getting the bowel to move ,maybe give it a try ,I know there are times when you are willing to try anything,

The multivitamin could be good for your immune system and help keep it on track.

What part of the country are you in Tonya?.sometime there are more health shops in one part than another ,Maybe you could get something from there  to help your bowel to move. But I would suggest you try the Black Licorice.or the chocolate raisins both easy to buy at most shops. You don`t need to go to a health shop for either of these.

I hope you feel much better today ,and wil chat again later ,to see how you are

      Hello Tonya,

I am so sorry you are still having a bad day ,it would appear the thing you said you took hasn`t done much good for you .Do you drink herbal teas ?I find having a drink of peppermint tea, helps with  by releasing wind ,which in turn helps with the pain wind brings with it .also Camomile tea helps to calm you down from the inside ,thus again being helpful.Maybe you could try using those ,or try using Acidophilus Capsules ,to ease your tummy pains.

Hi I have preferred to go down the complementary route for my recent illness.  I take L-Theanine and Lemon Balm for my Anxiety which helps with my agorophobia.  I find it just takes the edge off and seems to be helping with my sleep too as I was having a real problem with insomnia.  I think part of anxiety can sometimes be to do with control.  I feel like i am more in control taking these kind of remedies as i did the research and chose them for myself.  I  also have ibs and just take probiotic capsules daily (not the drinks due to the sugar in them as that sometimes disagree).  Thank you for your positive post. xxx

      Hello Catherine,,

Many thanks for your posting. It is nice to see others who do go along the complementary route too..I am glad you find they do provide you with help for your Agoraphobia ,how does the Aggie affect you ,are you housebound with it ? I was a long time ago for 2 years ,then I found a local self help group and that is where I found the best help and support of all.You are quite correct ,it does put you in control much more than depending on prescibed drugs.

As I said I take Acidophiluss for the IBS but I don`t take it daily ,I take it only when I have to go out .It has done the job wonderfully since I began taking it in 1981.You have 2 of the problems I have then Cathering ,both are a nuisance ,and both very much limit my outings.

I hope you keep doing ok and don`t have many not so good days ,

Hi there. My 'Aggie' (like that name!) isn't as bad as it used to be.  My mum died when i was 25 and i had it really bad then and was housebound.  I'm 42 now, single parent of little boy who is 8. I had a break down is suppose you could call it at the beginning of January but since taking l-theanine I can now go out in my village and immediate area to places i know but sometimes it overwhelms me.  I'm waiting for Stage 3 CBT and hoping that will help.  I keep thinking i want to set up a support group in my area but not sure if i'm well enough yet to organise things. xx

Hello Catherine and to Tonya too,

I too like the abreviation of Aggie, it makes it sound less daunting I think .I am glad your Aggie is not as bad now Catherine,it does seem to come and go in fits and starts.I can go out at times ,however I am apprehensive ,with a double wammy ,because of the IBS ,with the apprehension I could need the toilet and not be able to get to one ..I am sure you too feel this Tonya,re the IBS and it`s unpredictabilty ,if you eat something that sometimes triggers it off.I am sorry your young son suffers too Catherine.Tonya,I am so glad you are feling some respite from your IBS ,it gives you hope for your future.

Well to both my newfound friends I bid you farewell for now and chat again soon,

I know sometimes we moan in the UK about our health provision but at least most of it is paid for.  I think i will get 8 weeks of CBT on the National Health Service and up to 8 weeks of counselling if necessary after that.  Of course there is long waiting lists.  There seems to be quite a lot of people from the US on here.  I was talking to a young girl who was really stressed anxious and upset a few weeks ago but she was only 15 so wasn't sure she should be chatting to me if her parents didn't know.  Anyway its really useful to hear other peoples advise and experiences. Thank you .Take care xx

      Hello Cathering ,and Tonya

Seems a while since we chatted in here ,I hope all is going well for you both .

I myself have been having a few days of being down ,but I know my sweet lord Jesus wil help me to uplift myself.I pray every night to him ,and although at times it seems he is not helping me ,I know deep in my heart he is always there ,but helping my in his own way and in his own time .How are you getting on Tonya with the probiotics? are you feeling any more comfortable ?and you Catherine how are you doing with your other problems.I too have migrain ,but not to much now as iused to have them more frquet and more severe when I was much younger than I do now.I hope to hear from you both soon

Thanks for thinking of me millyimp.. I had a rough day on friday .. Very bloated and gasy. But I truly think the probiotics are working as yesterday and today have been good so far.. Does your IBS make your lower back hurt.I'm scared its my kidneys... But I suffer with health anxiety.. sad I take gas x pills once a day also and it seems to help the gas and bloating.. Hope you doing well. Sorry you've had a couple bad days.. Power of prayer is great and god does listen. Yes it seems like sometimes he don't but he truly hears all our Cry's.. We all will get thru this.. 😘❌❌❌
