ovarian cysts

You are not alone.. I am so glad to hear someone brubring this up. I have cysts that are considered functional on both my left and right ovaries. Recently saw a specialist because of the pain type and symptoms you're describing. .she also told me most likely because my cysts are of a smaller size and fluid filled they aren't causing pain...well, I have seen many docs and she's the first to completely discount the pain I have! It makes me upset and hopeless. .all I want as well is the pain gone. .not pain med seeking in any way, I just can't handle this much longer...the pain I feel is IN  my ovaries..not my stomach as she suggested and tried to tell me....luckily I have a good therapist that validates my feelings...anyone out there see a specific doctor type or have a test other than a ct or ultrasound that helped?? Thanks for listening to my rant, I hope its supportive in some respects. .

Hi Jayne, its awful isn't it. My cyst was around 5cm & was definitely causing my pain. Do you have aching for ages after going to the loo in the morning, i used to need a wee more often too. Have you been referred to a gynae? I was lucky by the sounds of it but i had to be persistent i was going back to my gp about every 5-6 weeks, i didnt like doing it but i was worried something was being missed (didnt know i had a cyst at that time) i honestly believe i was only referred because i had a solid mass in my cyst that could have been cancerous. Sounds like you are being monitored but as its not deemed a threat to your health they are leaving it alone, typical reactive health service!

i actually asked my gynae to remove my ovary as mine wasn't growing or shrinking, i didnt need it & he agreed. This is obviously affecting your life so i think i would apply pressure, reiterate how it is ruining your quality of life, making you depressed. See what others think but don't leave it, you can see by the sheer number of women on this forum we are all being let down by GP's ignoring pain that could be put right, if they are so sure the pain isn't caused by your cyst they now need to start investigating other possible causes so maybe pester them with this. I'm sorry i cant offer more advice, i wish i could i know how awful it is. Please keep me posted though, stay strong xxxx

I have a roughly 5 and half cm dermoid cyst inside my right ovary, however, mine has grown from 3cm in the space of 5 months, but i do suffer from symptoms like yours. I am ALWAYS bloated, and I have had moments where going to loo is very painful, and I have some random pregnancy-type symptoms and my periods are like the 7 days of hell. For the dull ache, start with normal pain medication, or use a hot water bottle, that always works for me also, drinking water may help with excretion, and for the bloating i really don't know, I'm scheduled for surgery so i'm hoping my bloating will go down afterwards, but i do try to avoid certain foods/drinks that can make people bloat. Always worth trying different things!

Jayne, can you see a different doctor?  I would just keep complaining and going back and be really assertive.  My consultant told me you shouldn't get pain with a small cyst, well who said you shouldn't.  We know our own bodies.  I would keep going back until you get the anser you want.  Dont give up. x

hi jayne and hi everyone,I have been writing here for over a year ,if you look back to march 2013 i had dermoid tumor removed,cut surgery,well right now i have a pain again in the same place ,went to docs await a scan again ,grr hope nothing as ovaries were both taken ,ill let you know on the outcame ,having same symptons,bloating etc and painful keeping me awake ,will let you all know soon as poss hope ,read back and see jayne hope it goes well ,tc mags x
