Overthinking or could I still have herpes?!

Had unprotected sex with a male guy that I was not aware had herpes, this guy has had the infection for 1 1/2 years now and I know he takes Valtrex 1gm every morning, but stop and then 2 months later is prescribed it. After exposure I got tested right away since I had symptoms of a yeast infection  but since a year I have had always gotten yeast infections after sexual intercourse so did not freak out too much. That was a 1 week after exposure, the IGG and IGM were negative for herpes 2, but my doctor did say I did have herpes 1 but for a while now so it was not from him. The yeast infection culture came back positive for heavy growth of yeast present. The symptoms subsided after about a month of diflucan. Since I knew testing right after exposure was not very accurate I tested a few days before 6 weeks has gone by since exposure and the IGG test for herpes 2 came back negative again. My doctor said I should be good and do not need to re-test unless I want too, I just want to know like what my risks are that I could actually still have it or if I am overthinking it I still think that I have it everyday cause it seems like it still burns and itches from time to time, feels like there is cuts but when I look there is absolutely nothing and I do not know if that is my mind playing tricks on me or if it is possible that those results were wrong. If I had HSV1 for a while would antibodies for HSV2 take longer to make or does it have nothing to do with that, and if I thought I was having symptoms (the yeast infection symptoms) would the test show antibodies formed already then? I am having the worst thoughts and anxiety over this, please if anyone could give me any insight it would be greatly appreciated. Also the culture for bacterial infections came back negative when I retested for herpes. All other STDS came back negative the first time I got tested as well.

If it helps any, I can tell you that I have outbreaks that are invisible to the eye and is common for others as well. Makes it hard to convince the Dr. since they can't see them but anyone who has had an outbreak knows the symptoms all too well and can be assured that it's not just their imagination. I went through this for many years. Do the treatments as if it were visible and take a look at using Lysine supplements and the dietary concerns for high Arginine in the diet as it makes OB's worse. You can look up on the internet the foods with highest ratio of Lysine/Arginine. I was infected about 15 years ago and must be diligent to keep diet in check and start taking the meds as soon as you feel the prodrome whether or not you see anything. There's quite a bit of info on the web. Good LUck !!

I meant to also mention that HSV1 can be present in the genital area and from way back when... and could be what you're dealing with but for me, my blood tests came back negative for HSV2 but then my lesions were cultured and came back positive for HSV2... so my take away is that the blood tests can be false negative....

      Hi Amy

I need to know about your experience as you have it for long time.

Im a man who was diagnosed one month back.

      What supplements you take?

      How you reduce OBs?

      You take suppressive therapy?

How you deal with sex life?

      Thanks
