Hi, Im yet to find any pain relief that works , only oramorph which was given in A&E.

As for the dizzy spells, i tend to get them when my BP is at a 'normal' range. As my body is used to it being high when it goes down i feel dizzy and generally awful. I dont know how ur BP is so obv cant say its related for u. Hope this helps :-)

    Hi,

My consutant has said that only paracetamol is safe for CKD-certainly not Ibuprofen or other drugs of that class. I find this hard as I have quite bad arthritis and paracetamol doesn't touch it.  I sometimes take Tramacet if the pain is bad.  I also get dizzy sometimes- it may be because I am overmedicated for blood pressure a bit- the doctor says I am- but I have had such a struggle to get my BP under control that I don't want to risk lowering the meds.

    davey72,

I'm new to participating in these forums but I'm stage 4. I don't get headaches or dizziness. They just got my blood pressure down to 150's or high 90's. What stage are you in, what's your normal blood pressure and are you on dialysis yet? Not being nosy but just trying to learn.

Davey, with CKD you need to avoid all NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) including Ibuprofen.  Paracetamol should be fine.

As far as the dizzy spells are concerned, you should check these out with your Dr - it is far more likely to be due to a problem other than CKD.  For instance a problem with your ears could cause dizziness.  Also low and high blood pressure can do the same.  But do discuss this with your Dr.

I'm wondering the same thing about dealing with pain, specifically kidney/flank pain. I don't have a specialist yet because this is all brand new to me. My GP I believe is an idiot and told me to take ibuprofen. I still have 3 weeks to wait for the appt with a specialist and therefore have been struggling quite a bit with this.

Anyway, I'm wondering if it's safe to heat them or ice them. I've read both that it's unsafe, and that it's a recommendation so I'm confused.

Also I do have issues with dizziness as well. I've struggled with different types of dizziness issues such as vertigo because of my ears in the past. This dizziness feels different. I too wondered if it could have anything to do with CKD, if not my guess is medications???
