    Hello

Ive had RA for approx 17 yrs am on mtx 12.5mg weekly and humira injections once every 2 weeks ( self administered) ive been on this medication for about 13 yrs. I also take diclofenac anti inflammatory pill every 2nd day. The meds have allways worked well. It is painfull and i combat that with codeine and paracetemol but their not to good for the stomach especially in the amounts i take but needs must. I do work for myself in the building trade, its hard but im o e of them who wont give in until i really have to and take time off now and again. I am looking into changing my meds as im thinking my body has become to used to what im currently on and it is becoming ineffective in relation to its pain killing qualities hence the amount of p/killers i take now. Anyways am looking at holistic p/killer which isnt legally obtainable in this country but has brilliant reviews and reports in USA. Hope things get easier for you and i will let you know if i get anywhere.

    Regards Gaz

Wow gaz, you make me feel very fortunate to be living in the USA. I've had RA for 3 mo and been on prednisone 3x, mtx and now they have added Humira. Without prednisone, I am chair bound and pain is excruciating. I am already out on short term disability from my very physical job. Anyway, pain has been so bad that I thought of buying something for pain on the street but everyone says I will just become addicted to them. And doctors are terrified to prescribe them. It's a catch 22. People have been telling me to try the oils that are sold in many holistic shops. After reading your post, I will try it and let you know how I'm doing in a couple of weeks. Good luck and hang in there.

Hi Mitchum, I live in WV which has the highest prescription drug abuse rate use in the US. Was diagnosed with RA 2 years ago. Literally knocked me off my feet, never saw it coming. Hospitalized in March & again in April. Had to wait until August to see a Rheumatologist in WV.  It would have been easier to buy pain meds OFF the street. My doctor in WV gave me “ 9 “ pain pills to hold me till August. I broke them in pieces to take at night for some pain relief so I could sleep.  Finally after 3 months the Methotrexate kicked in. Good luck to you, I hope you can find someone to help you. God bless.

I am on MTX injections weekly for my 3rd year. I take 3mg steroids daily and methocarbomal nightly along with Lyrica. Mostly good but had to endure terrible constipation. I feeling quite sore lately as well, seeing my rheumy in May, hoping to try Humira or Xeljanz finally.

I’ve had RA for maybe five years but finally diagnosed three years ago. I started on Methotrexate but had to stop because of liver damage. I’ve tried Hydroxycloraquine  but it made no difference so that got stopped too. I’ve been on Cimzia biologic but that got changed to Actemra as it can stand alone without MTX, unfortunately that interfered with my diverticulitis so now I’m being changed to Orencia soon. I keep Predisolone on hand if I get a flare (which seems to happen quite regularly now) and Tapentadol on hand too but I won’t take it unless I’m desperate. I take Amyltriptaline to help me sleep.
