Pain relief

I have tried some anti depressants that the doctor gave me but they made me feel worse. Is there any pain relief that works for anyone else?

Lately my pain is located in my legs thighs and hips. It has been like this for days and is excruciating at times. I can't sleep and the Tamaron is not working like it usually does. This is something new. Just came on sudden. Any thoughts or has anyone and this happen.

I was looking of doctors that may specialize in FM. Bit there aren't any. Just pain clinics. I am so confused about this.

Hi. I was diagnosed with CFs in 2008 anf fibro just over a year ago.  I've been taking codeine for 6yrs and tramadol for the last year.  I'm also on gabapentin which is an anti epileptic bit also used for fibro.  I was tried on amitriptiline and another that I cant remember the name of that were anti depressants used for pain in small doses but they made me worse.  The gabapentin does help a little but not so much anymore although my gp said they are probably doing more than I think.  It's so hard finding a gp that is actually helpful, im lucky in that mine is really good.  I use a lot of forums online too specific to fibro as the only actual support group that was started in my area f disbanded before I was well enough to make it rolleyes x

Same here. They help sometimes yet the side effects usually effect me worse. I just told my doc about each of the side effects & kept diary how drugs effected my issues...I was taken off and I feel mentally so much better. Physically they did not help at all. Pain relief is a big issue in the US. To many have misused them & the system so those who really need them must sin a pain contract. I u ever break it then u are labeled a pain pill seeker and it doesn't mater what real pain issues disc herniated issues etc.

Cognitive therapy, mindfulness therapy, exercise lightly and my animals help better than meds. I stay in shape. I have seen too many with FM give in & give up. It doesn't have to be that way.

Stay strong, stay busy doing UR fav things enjoy life... Adjust to UR level of doing things vs endurance & pain. I take OTC PAIN meds.

i have 2 hip joint replacements RA..PSA... My fingers my be curled up my scoleosis herniated discs and feet issues... Bones, joints, and tissue disorders but I want to keep a good quality of life.

Gardening all my animals keeping my home and 3 acres up is a good way to pace doing a little each day. I luv Coldplay, happy joyful, uplifting music is a great way to improve moods and quality of life. I am my own biggest advocate.... U can be too!

I garden at 66 I still work it ,3 horses, cut the hay... Just a lot slower.. So what it eventually gets done.

And I feel better because of the opportunity to do it accomplish my goals and staying in shape he best way I can.....

    u can too!

I force myself to do something every day. I am always in severe pain . Fighting it is exhausting. I have learned to just accept it as part of my life.. Pace my days... Take .. My time doing everything using mindfulness therapy. Focus on everthing I do.. Pay attention not to cause more pain..

I am fearsly independent.. Can u tell... I must stay in shape the best way I can.. I have seen to many give up give in then what? Not me...

its takes time to develop what works with FM. We are all individuals searching for a positive attitude has helped me the most. Staying busy finding things that u lov doing taking UR mind off the pain.

Peace, luv& laughter....heeling well blessings sent UR way across the pond.

I was  diagnosed fibrositis which is similar to fibromyalgia over a year ago. My doctor has just put me on Duloxetine which works alot better than  tricyclic antidepressant as the side effects are no where near as bad. I would ask your doctor and give it a whirl. There is nothing that will completly take away the pain but there are some good tablets that will ease your pain and make you feel better. Hope this helps.

I had to look that up. It does sound very similar to FM even symptoms and diagnosis.

i will ask about Duloxetine. Thanks so much for sharing.
