Pancreatic cyst/endoscopic ultrasound-really need advice full of anxiety

Hello my name is Jenn.  I am 51 and a stay at home mom. This past Friday i had a endoscopic ultrasound to see a pancreatic cyst on the tail of my pancreas.  Doctor told me all benign.  However, he suggests having it out by next year in case it turns.   He took fluid from aspirating it and told me to see my gastro in one month.  I noticed he also took a blood test for ca 19 tumor marker.  If the cyst is benign why is he doing that blood test.  Very upset and confused please help

    Hi.

Probably to confirm it is definitely benign but it sounds like 99% it is. If you don't have any sympoms then there is probably no need for surgery as it is a dramatic procedure.

Don’t worry, please. Ca 19 test is done just in case to be sure. I have had anelevated lipase, and also had that test, it doesn’t hurt, but it makes you more comfortable, my dear.
