Partial hip replacement pain post op

I am a 69 active person. Fell on June 16 and split the ball in my hip, hence a partial hip replacement.  Still having issues with hip pain running from my back to my groin and down front of leg.  Finish physical therapy this week, what next!!  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Carolyn, what do you mean what next? Exercises to do after physical therapy? Or what to do about the pain? do you have back problems? could the pain be from that???

Hi Chuck ...yes what to do about getting rid of pain!!  I don't like taking meds they only cover up problems.  I am ready to bike, play golf and kayak again!!!  Right now I can't do any of this...not fun!  How long is it suppose to take to heal.  The therapist said when you get pain to stop to exercise or stretch.  If I push it I am back on the couch again... maybe doing it all wrong !

    Hi carolyn,

warm welcome to the hippies forum ..

so you fell and ball in hip split - then followed a partial hip replacement surgery, replacing the broken ball and putting in a prothesis - joint needed to be forcefully dislocated , cut from femur, prepared to have hardware banged in -

Did you take any pain medication after the surgery ... You are right that pain medication will mask the problem, however you did have major invasive surgery and your body needs to repair the damages done - when in pain, the body will be in distress -

pain medication is sometimes necessary so we can start doing our exercises, walking, slowly, one step at a time - Medication is scheduled in order to stay ahead of the pain-

I do understand why you did not want to take them -

When was the last time you met with your surgeon?

Try to relax - this is not a sprint  but more like a marathon -

accept that this is what it is - so frustrating and annoying, right

    big warm hug

    renee
