Patience

My first time! Been on Flu since early November. Only in the last two weeks have i felt any difference. Still get shakes occasionally, usually in the morning or when stressed. Appear to be in control of \"Mr Angry\" or am i aware of the signs of becoming that person? I did sleep for two weeks, hate Christmas at the best of times but it was torture this year. This is a great site, it seems the only people who understand have either been in this position or have experience of others suffering with it. Wife tries to understand but i know she doesn't. My greatest remedy is to do loads of walking, study nature, people or architecture. Sounds naff i know but i feel it's made me fitter and more appreciative of what is going on around me (3 miles a day). I am on my own, only I can fix it but it is not easy. Only when the meds took effect was i able to start to think more rationally. The packet info says 2 weeks, for me it was two months but i am so pleased i made the effort. I am a long way from being better but a long way from where i was!

    Hi HM

I know what you mean re the walking. Gives me a real boost (usually) as well. Have really missed it since the snow and ice arrived. The risks outweigh the benefits if i fall over. Still should be back on track tomorrow when i go back to work. Have been on flu since 23 Dec and although no 2 days are the same, i can feel an improvement most days.

Keep those posts coming and well done.

Meganpooch, thanks, praise is a great motivator. I really hope work went ok for you, i'm planning a return at the begining of March, 2 days a week at first. You are right about two days not being the same, however i hope they are not so different as they were? I wish i had known about this site before, but then, could i have been a*s*d?

    Hi HM

We all need encouragement that this horrible depression will not last forever.

I'm very lucky to work within a short drive of a lovely large park with a huge lake (frozen today). Walked round the lake today and wanted to go round again but ran out of lunchhour. It is so refreshing to be in the open air, seems to boost the good chemicals in the brain. Just listening to the deafening sound of the birds, geese and swans really uplifts my day.

Well, i was looking forward to going back to work after 2 false starts on Monday and Tuesday thanks to mother nature and having been sick Thurs/Fri.

Apart from the morning shakes was in my more usual neutral mood. Concentration was really hard and kept forgetting what i was doing.

Had a chat to one of my colleagues in the smoking shelter but forgot what i was saying mid sentence. Do you suffer like this also? It's quite embarrassing.

Feel really vunerable at the moment but a colleague who is very supportive and has had depression and come out the other side (proof it will not be forever) said this is 'normal feelings'. It feels like i'm teetering on the edge of a 'wobble' at all times - not a nice feeling.

It is so hard to beleive that things will get better when you're in the middle of it.

Still, we all have to be patient i suppose and i have seen some improvement if only slightly.

    Take care :?
