Peri Anxiety

Hi Ladies, I've asked this a while ago but, I can't get over the fact that I'm still dealing with peri anxiety and it's been over a year. I just started lexapro 7 days ago and it is starting to help. I know I have to give it about a month but, is this normal? Are any of you still suffering from debilitating anxiety for over a year from this? I was so stable before this. I just hate this!! Just wondering how many others had to take anxiety meds for this too? It's unreal what this can do.

From 2011 to 2018 I was pretty much housebound by peri anxiety. I couldnt even go to the grocery store alone.

I honestly can't say it was all bad, to be honest. I learned many skills being lonely and housebound with social and every other type of anxiety one can think of.

I learned to enjoy my own company, gardening, kept chickens, learned woodworking, did a lot of decorating.

I am free of it now, but I do have to admit, it was amazing for self reflection and growth in the end.

one thing that did help me was Bachs Rescue Remedy.

Yes same. I had PTSD that was in remission and since peri have been in hell with increased anxiety. On zoloft and clonazapam and sleeping pills but not doing much. You are not alone. Hormones seem to affect/ruin everything for women. 😦

Yep, going on over 3 years now. A shell of myself. I try and fight this every day...but it is an every day struggle. I have gone back and forth whether to go on Zoloft or not for it to help with anxiety, have the RX, but have not taken it. I do take clonaxapen as needed....which is almost 1/day at this point. It really is awful.

I've dealt with anxiety all my life, I've been on Paxil and Xanax since my early 20's. Since this meno crap has started its went from stable with meds to almost uncontrollable with meds. I actually just came here to distract myself bc I'm currently trying told hold it together, fighting an attack. My heart is trying to fly out of my chest (heart rate is currently 128 and I'm not moving, also on meds to keep it low but not working tonight.) nausea is extreme and add the anxiety hot flash to the meno hot flash, ugh! If it doesn't let up soon. im tempted to call EMS. You're not alone!
