Peri Menopause

Hi

I'very been experiencing peri menopause this included having 7 periods in 3 months. Had checks with gynaecologist and it looks like it is hormone relates.

I have noticed that my symptoms get worse when I get a period (like at the moment) get nausea, heavy head, aches in joints. I had to go on anti depressants as I became very low during the time I had excessive periods which have been great, I also take various supplements. I had 35 days without a period and I felt the best but now my period is hear I can feel my mood getting lower again.

Does anyone else feel like this during peri and when they get a period?

    Hi,

You did not state your age but your symptoms sound a lot like I had in my mid-late forties.  While other women I knew going through peri were getting their period less, I was getting it more- like every two to three weeks - it was brutal---extreme fatigue, body aches,etc..for most of the month.  The only time I felt good was the one week a month that I wasn't getting my period or the pms that went with it.  I could find no way to make me feel better but I have heard that Vitamin B can help with energy.  The symptoms were so strong I was advised that hrt would help but I would not go that route because of breast cancer in immediate family and blood clots on the other side.  So, I suffered.

I would maybe make sure you get enough Vitamin B in your diet and try to eat healthy foods with lots of antioxidants.  I also found that going on slow, gentle walks outside in fresh air helped heal my mind and body.  I could do no real moderate or intense physical exercise or activities during these time-it made me feel worse.   Massage helped me too, though it is temporary.

I am 50 now and I will say it is somewhat better.  I still have some days but overall, so far, more tolerable.   I wish you the best-you will get through it wink

Low estrogen can cause aches and pains. I didn't have that during my cycles, but now that I'm close to menopause, I do.

I am 49 years old (just!!!) And last 4 months have been terrible after having 7 periods in 3 months, i also had a complete meltdown with panic disorder so taking flouextine) I had a uterine biopsy done which was all clear, got to go back this month for ultrasound scan I started to feel good for last month but got my period 3 days ago and Bam back comes aches, groggy head. I take flaxseed oil, b vitamins, agnus castra. I only eat healthy balanced meals - no processed food or high sugar foods (they give me adrenalin surges) I don't want to take hrt or have any coils fitted but i'Lloyd see what gynae says when I go back. Got some bioidentical hormone cream to try so might give that a go

Ages 48/49 were by far, the worst two years of peri/meno for me-completely debilitating.  Hopefully, it should get better for you after 50 (as it is for me so far) but then again.... who knows what lies ahead for the fabulous fifties! -It's always something, or it seems like that.

It sounds like you are keeping on top of things.  I have heard that the hormone cream can be helpful.  I never did try it- I honestly just surrended to feeling like **it most of the month - but that is probably not the right thing to dosmile      Best wishes- Sharon
