Ok call me stupid but can anyone tell me how I know when I am past Peri , full menopause and after. Unfortunately I have had to go back on hrt patches as aches and pains excasurabted my fibromyalgia and I was going down a dark road. I will be 50 this year and I'm worried if hrt is just postponing everything. Any advice plz

Hi Joy..apparently post menopause is the 13th month with no period.

    Hope that helps.

I had to go to the ER for stitches and the nurse asked me if I was pre- or post-menopausal. I had no clue what that meant. Talk about uneducated in this area!

I said I haven't had a period in two years and then he said then post.

I had no clue about menopause as I stayed on the birth control pill until I was 52. Found out I already went through menopause when I went off the pill. No symptoms except for weight gain.

I feel for you. I would just be sure to tell others you do not "want" to feel this way and are doing your best. I hope they understand. No one can cook while feeling that way. I haven't taken and progesterone or any hormones but aren't they supposed to help in those symptoms? I hope it works. You shouldn't have to go through this.

Hi Joy. Sorry you are having a bad day.

Is this the same type of hrt you have taken in the past? How long did it take to start working that time?

You asked if hrt just postpones the menopause symptoms. I think the answer, is we are all different. But yes it can just put off the inevitable.

A friend has stopped her hrt after ten years and is now suffering hot flashes again.   I think if you can cut down gradually it may be better.

Thank you Debbie. Tears pouring out now as I feel someone understands. I suffer from fibromyalgia and menopause has appeared to make this worse. I just couldn't cope with the constant pain and fatigue that is why I reverted to hrt. Although at this moment I just don't know what to do. Pain or craziness lol. Thank u for ur kind words x

Well that's the thing. Menopause is hard enough; then when there is something more, like illness or a problem, things just get worse. Fibromyalgia is painful from what I've been told. I know I also break down easy and worry when a family member is having a difficult time. Trying to focus on everyday tasks can be difficult, if not impossible. Remember we are here for you and you also help us. Knowing it is normal and you are not alone helps (too bad it doesn't "cure" us all)!

Hi Maisie to b honest they have chopped and changed my hrt. I then had a mad fit and threw them all out. However my joint pain and fatigue was so bad I thought I would give it another go and found s box of evorel sequi. Pain lifted after first few days but now when I've got to the conti patches which I have to take for 2 weeks...I'm like a woman possessed. I've had to take diazapam due to major panic attack today. I really don't want to take hrt

as I'm pretty sure it will just postpone everything....but likewise I need to b able to work and function.Thank u for taking the time to respond x
