Perimenopause???

Hi - I have had an awful 2017 started with possible pneumonia, 2 UTI's I was on a ton of meds etc.  long story short I had an episode of what they are calling a huge immune allergic response to something I had facial flushing, extreme high BP, palpitations, dizzy, felt faint, felt in the ozone layer, tremors, night sweats, freezing hands feet, tingling hands feet, tingling lips, burning nose throat, burning skin, and severe anxiety.  All this is not me I am usually calm go with the flow person,  I was tested for literally everything under sun and all negative.  Anyhow I had that last about 2 weeks, end result is I am on 2 BP meds now and I still have some issues.  One is night sweats not too severe but I do notice them, I also have this burning feeling even down below,  I just got a culture done and it was negative and so was my urine culture.  During all this I did have my OB check for pre menopause etc, she ran some labs and I dont have the values but was told they showed pre-menopause.  I do notice I am testier than my norm and I do get anxious at times which is all new to me.  Not sure if this burning is a symptom also?  I just say things feel off and my poor husband just doesn't get it!  I also had irregular periods for past two months.  In Jan it was a little late and short, Feb very short (2 days) and end of Feb was back to it's normal lenght one and half to 2 weeks, but they have been changing in flow.  I wasn't sure if the irregularity was due to being sick and on so much meds.  Anyhow I am always tired and seem more so lately, and i have lots of aches and pains all the time, I was told previously years ago mild fibromyalgia and I think it has gotten worse but I havne't been to a dr. for that.  At this point I am just pushing through each day, at times I am not sure I remember what feeling normal is!!!

    Hi

you poor thing, what a start to 2017. It made me think. At 56, 57 this year, I was so tied up a year ago last month. My Husbands Father was terminally ill and we were travelling from Coventry to Walsall every day. He was in a hospice and after 8 weeks they told us he had to leave, it was only short stay. To cut long story short, we transferred him to Coventry on a Monday and he died on Wednesday. At the time I had chest infection, vit D deficiency and felt awful. I didn't connect it with menopause until I read your story. I had 2 episodes of not being able to eat for weeks at a time. Just picked at food. Upset stomach, nearly all of the symptoms you have listed. I was exhausted, nauseous. Anxiety was a premium. Still very anxious and won't go out much. I took early retirement at 55 or I think I would have done my manager physical harm. I ache all over. I feel guilty for feeling like I do, my Husband of only 2 years suffers and my Son of 23 years of age. They don't take offence but it doesn't stop the guilt. I suffer fro night time toilet habits, wanting to wee all the time. Gp put me on Clonidine which helps with flushes and palpitations. Good and bad days. Told it will end but I ask myself ? When. Hope you feel better soon. Take care

Wow you ARE having an awful start to the year.. Has to improve from there, right?!

I don't know about all your symptoms but I can say that I experienced the UTI from hell several years ago, and when the pain didn't settle ( low pelvic pain, vulval burning, low back pain etc) I finally found a specialist who diagnosed Pudendal Neuralgia (from nerve damage during one of my births). For some reason the UTI triggered it to become severe. Have an Internet search and see if it rings any bells with you....

Omg I looked that up. It sounds like what I have. The pain is almost a nerve type pain. I described it as when I was little and used to put tin foil in my mouth and when it hit my fillings. Same thing. It's an awful feeling. And even my buttocks hurt like when I sit. And all this started together. I thought I had a sore on them. It was weird. Where does the nerve pain come from. I had a shot in my butt for the UTI and they said she gave it too much in middle I have a hard bump there now and they said it went into tissue and will take a while to go away. Just curious if a nerve from there was connected or not. It all started same time. Is there anything to do for it. The burning is awful. And who would I see my OB again. She thought I was a little yeast. She said it's all red and inflamed. Would that cause that. So she gave me a diflucan and it really hasn't done anything. The culture was negative. I just want to feel normal. Things down don't feel normal and it's frustrating and it literally just started after the second UTI in a month and the gentamycin shot in my butt.

The pudendal nerve comes from your sacral nerves (near your bum dimples) and travels near your 'sitting bone' in your bum ( that's why cyclists get this too). It sends nerves to your anus, girlie bits and wee bits. Commonly miss-diagnosed. So initial damage can be from childbirth, gynae procedures, cycling, sitting on hard surfaces, etc. Relatively rare. Can mimick wee symptoms, bowel symptoms, can give pelvic/ lower back/ vulva/ clitoris pain. If your wee pathology is now OK but you still have burning pain it could be this neuralgia or another possibility is interstitial cystitis ( search that too on Internet). They generally can do a 'diagnostic nerve block' ( only temporary) to see if it clears your pain, then they know it's pudendal. In my country we have ' pelvic floor physiotherapists' that check for tight muscles inside the vagina, chiropractic to check your pelvic function, acupuncture.......if all fails to give relief,  low does antidepressants ( eg Endep) are used for neuralgia, or as a last resort a surgical consult with a knowledgeable gynae ( I'm lucky I have a world expert in my city)
