Hi.

I have extreme breathlessness - just wondering when perimenopause symptoms decrease -  is there usually a significant improvement when menopause starts?

Thanks

Hi. Sorry can't answer that yet as I'm not there myself. Just wondered, have you had your iron levels checked? Xx

Hi, yes, had all blood tests,  CT, ECG  etc - all ok, so thinking may be its due to the perimenopause, have had it for 6 months already, just wondering if there is a  chance that it will reduce when menopause starts!

Go back to your doc. Extremebreathlessess is not a symptom of menopause. You need to have spirometry tests and maybe a chest X-ray. Are you asthmatic? Very overweight? Do you get chest pains? Do you get anxious or get panic attacks? Do you get wheezy? Good luck.

    Hi Debbie,

Done alll these - lung function, chest xray, been to pulmonologist - they dont have a clue! Im not too overweight, dont get wheezy, asthma medications dont help either.

So I am thinking may be its anxiety due to perimenopause - I dont feel too anxious either but may be I dont realise!

Hi Polly.  There is a general understanding here that everyone is different...  That said so, I had an owfull blip when I lost my first period, things got really rough after that, I had like a chronic cough, my heart was going crazy, from fast to very slow heart beats, I could barely breath, I had a thinitus from nowere, dry eye, some stomach issues, etc.  Than when all that got better, I developed some kind of joint and muscle ache sad. All that took about 10 months and now I am just fine, as nothing had happened.  I still have an erratic period, but MOST of all extra stuff, desappeared - sometimes a dry eye, an ache, but nothing similar to that phase.  As you develop those things AND IF your doctors can not find any wrong, it is probably some side effect from your hormones going crazy.  Try not to go crazy, for sometimes it looks like we are dying - and I am not exagerating! Exercise, eat well, take your vitamins and or HRT, as you decide, and wait for it is going to pass, as everything in life, TG, LOL Good luck!

Poor you. Im wth BellaRubia, and I understand the feeling of getting older quickly, thinking dark thoughts etc. try to do as much for yourself as you can. Healthy diet, daily exercise including stretches, take vitamins etc, and find ways to relax.....I was told years ago on a stress management course to take 30mins each day for yourself to totally relax. I used to listen to my fav record, lying down in a quiet room and honestly, it did help. Try to do something each day that you enjoy, that makes you feel good about yourself. OMG, I really dont want to sound patronising! It sounds so easy, but we all know its  a real uphill struggle, at best! Take comfort where you can. Maybe buy some books about self help and relaxation. Would you consider goingto a therapist who could help you find ways of managing anxiety episodes? Good luckthinking of you and wishing you strength. X
