Period After Nine Years Menopause

Posted , 8 users are following.

I started "spotting' 4 weeks ago, but since then I have a heavy period for the last 3 weeks.  I went through menopause 9 years ago, experiencing hot flushes night & day.  I am very concerned that this is happening to me now.  As soon as it stops, I am making an appointment with the gynea.  I have been experiencing terrible stress at work and was wondering if this was the cause of my period returning?

Hi Wendy, yes stress can play a huge role in how your body is reacting.  I have gone through similar issues, where  if I'm dealing with men, the stress level can cause my hormones to react thus I get horrible hot flashes and all sorts of emotional disturbances along with break thru bleeding.  My doctos says it's normal.  You'll need to find ways to destress, walking or doing exercise will usually help your body and your mind calm the stressors.  If you're not an active person then your body is going to continue on taking the beating. Activity relieves and rests the brain to stop thnking that you're under a lot of stress. Also, in case you don't know helps build new neurons in the brain that can help you see thngs differently.  If this is still to much for you to do then maybe you should consider that it's time to retire.

Hi Sochima, thank you for your reply and advice.  Much appreciated.  Quite a frightening experience.  I am 47 years old and I think it may be too early to retire, therefore, excerise it will be smile  Thanks again

It could be stress or fibroids. I have 3, but they aren't that big that they need removed per my OB.She said they will get smaller over time progresses through the post meno., which is where I'm at now. I'm almost certain it's stress related too cause I went almost 2 years without a period, then bam got one in May and June. Went through all the battery of tests to be sure it wasn't anything more serious. The ultrasound and MRI showed they were indeed fibroids. Nothing more though, and now no periods in July and so far none in Aug. yet. Knock on wood. I think it's all from hormones and stress your body goes through, and everyone is different. Hate when they put the big C worry in women going through this, but guess it's worth it just to be certain.

Hi Didi, thank you for your response.  It is much appreciated.  It was quite a shock to have a period after 9 years of menopause.  But, as soon as I have stopped, I am definitely going to my gynea.  I was by him 2 months ago for normal route check up and all was well.  Definitely going to excercise as well.  Thanks again for your advice.

Please don't wait for the bleeding to stop.  Go see your gyn as soon as possible. (Insist on it.) The tests your doctor needs to perform can be done whether you're bleeding or not.  And, frankly, the doctor is not going to be grossed out.  Your body is telling you that something is going on and you need to find out what it is.

I don't want to frighten you--whatever it is can usually be handled if it is identified soon enough.  But you need to make the first step to get yourself some medical assistance.

Please let me know how you get on.  I'm wishing you only the best! xxx
