periods

I am 54 years old and have been going through the menopause for 4 years now and am on HRT. I only ever get a slight bleed two or three times a year. Today I have had horrible cramping, in my legs also. I have also started to bleed.

Do you think that the horrible cramping is down to surgery 7.5 weeks ago?

Have you had prolapse surgery barbara?

Yes but only anterior repair on the 8th December.

Your sutures could be starting to come away from your would, that would account for the bleeding.

Possibly because you have a pelvic muscles that can contract during the healing processĀ

I am also 54 and had not had a period for about 8 months but after using an estrogen cream for 2 weeks daily and then 1 time per week after that, I have had 2 regular periods. I had rectocele repair 8 weeks ago and started the cream a couple of months before my surgery. I had some light bleeding from stitches but didn't really have cramping. Not sure if this answer helps or notrolleyes.
