Hi Michelle I too have this horrible taste in my mouth. In fact it's done me a favour particularly over Christmas as I've gone off chocolate! In addition I'm taking iron liquid which makes me feel queasy 😷

Lets ts hope it passes soon for both of us

Hi Michelle I've been to see about my dry mouth at docs today it's driving me crazy I thought it was off my medication I was taking but doc says it could be related to the menopause there's a shock ha ha. Anyway just wondering as well as the horrible metalic taste do you feel like your mouth is burning also your tongue is like leather when I'm in bed  I never know where to put my tongue for ease sounds daft. I'm also very irritable on a night time I just feel like my skin is crawly and itchy toss in turn hot and cold in bed and guess what another symptom of menopause so I'm told.

Yes my tongue sometimes burns but I have too much saliva rather than not enough. Pretty much like when ur pregnant and feel sick and ur mouth fills up with water. ive been in perimenopause eight years and have every symptom in the book. I too am very hot at night. As for the tongue thing not knowing what to do with it I get what you mean. Ive been taking my ginger capsules twice a day for the vlast three days and it seems to be a bit better today thank God. Im not joking some days I feel like im dying. Im on mirtazapine AD and was wondering if that could be causing it but im tapering off of it in the new year. This last two years have been the worst yet in my peri but im also missing periods so I suppose that explains it. I darent go back to my docs again he must be sick of seeing me. I developed health anxiety in perimenopause as well.

Thanks for reply it does help to know that other women are getting this in perimenopause aswell.

Hope you feel better soon x

    Hi Michelle

I did use ginger and ginger tea but for acid reflux.

The only thing I found helped with the annoying and horrible taste was extra strong mints.

The taste comes back though and some days I was eating a packet or more of them.

I'm post meno now and the taste which was metallic has changed. It's not as bad (I used to have it all day every day) it has also changed and now is more lemony. It is still annoying but not quite as horrible as feeling like you are sucking on a penny all the time.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you I also have acid reflux and have gone through lots of mints the last couple of weeks. I havent had a period last couple months but have missed periods before so nothing new.

Its weird how taste buds change with hormones.

I can only eat very little at times as I fill up very quickly but perimenopause has brought a lot of digestion issues for me:0

The ginger defo seems to be helping though. Thanks for advice much appreciated x
