i had a ultra sound last week for exactly the same reason, I have been having a period and then 10 to 12 days later a little bit more showing, I have been like this for 18 months now, all was clear on the ultra sound, so now they are getting in touch with a gyno to see if I need further investigation, but it is looking very much like hormones, I am in peri, please don't worry xx

Firstly do not worry. Silly thing to say as we all do it at "our time of life". I'm 50 background missed odd periods then intermenstal bleeds sometimes heavy loss. So I saw Dr then had vaginal ultrasound. Ultimately ending at gynaecologist who ultimately gave me a hysteroscopy & endometrial biopsies. I had polyp removed & scrape. Diagnosis: endometrial hyperplasia (simple) so now I have had a coil fitted to give me extra progesterone.
Long story short do not worry, there will be a solution.
Here if you need to talk but truthfully we are all in similar state.
Please tc

On day of fitting I felt pretty grotty with period cramp pains, biut comparative to a lot of pain I've (as we all have) it was ok & paracetamol & hot water bottle really resolved it. I've had a niggling abdominal pain but this could be post hysteroscopy & biopsies.
I was told by gynaecologist that she did expect some bleeding.
I know lots of people say for the first 6 months it's hit or miss with blood loss.
Hope that helps (sorry to drone on)
If all goes well it can't be ready removed any later than 5 years from now.
What's your situation?

Also it is great that you don't have hectic and unexpected bleeding with mirena during peri. So i am not sure what the answer is for me but I might go for it even just for this reason. Best wishes to you with the changes happening in your body.

i too had the Mirena fitted March 2014, mine took best part of a year to settle, but it is so much better, I also had a polyp removed and the camera, and at the same time I had the coil Ā fitted, my gyno said it would help me through the peri with hormones and heavy bleeding, I'm 47, best thing I did was having it fitted, no more heavy periods or period painsĀ

Did you have endometrial hyperplasia?
Just curious as I have it & been advised my gynaecologist this may resolve It
Thanks

There is a slow release of progesterone that helps thin lining of womb.
Lots of websites can indicate this for you. It's now a more common use for endometrial hyperplasia (simple)
Hope all works out for you

no I just had the polyp, a fibroid and I had suffered really heavy periods for years and with my age he thought it would be the best thing to be fitted to take me through periĀ

It could just be hormone relatedĀ
