I felt a bump in my throat two years ago, saw a ENT who put a camera down my throat (after spraying an anaesthetic) and proved I had a benign tumor.

He suggested surgery but I chose medications instead.

I suggest you ask your primary Dr for an opinion and if he/she has none then ask to be referred to a ENT who will in most cases diagnose the issue in your first visit.

I wish I could give you a definite answer, but only a ENT doctor can do that. In any case, I have a few guesses.

As this region has many small mucous glands and lymphoid tissue, it may be an obstruction in a small gland or an increase in volume of this lymphoid tissue due to an inflammatory or allergic process.

My second guess is a tumor, which can be benign or not.

The best thing to do is to have an imaging exam of this area to get a correct diagnosis and thus go through the appropriate treatment.

There is no reason to despair, just visit the doctor and take the appropriate treatment.

Bernipes is right. See the doctor. Also remember that sometimes you need to visit more than once to see if the lump changes size, colour etc.

Over time, a good guide I was told to it not being cancer is if it does not change size.

If it shrinks, then that's an even better sign.
