Possible early moneopausr

Posted , 4 users are following.

I am 46 years old and the pas t 6 months i have had extremely heavy periods and big clots. It is now time for my period and I an now just getting brown and a couple slightly red spotting for 4 days now. I had the Essure done about 7 years ago with no problems. Do you think the heavy periods were leading up to Menopause? Could I be going through that now?

Thank you! If you don't mind... what is your age? I feel like I'm not old enough but everyone thinks they are younger than they are. lol

It could be!! Any thing goes at this point. I have had heavy periods with big clots for awhile.. Dr has asked me if I started skipping yet which at 50 I have not. It just seemed to be a mess every 28 days. I am now having a D&C to see if that helps. So you might be on your way.. : ) If the heavy periods start up again, make sure you take iron so you don't become anemic.

No not be worried-- I saw a nurse practitioner once (Dr wasn't available) and she said everyone is different-- The last one could be extremely heavy or barely nothing.

You are right at the age. Some go in sooner, some much later. But your age is not abnormal at at all. I am 51 and I am two years postmenopause. I used to have heavy periods and it took about 3 years to finally quit having periods all together. It was like a motor running out of gas (for lack of a better analogy). I was in peri at your age or a bit earlier because I didn't have this sites resources back then and I thought I was dying.

I still feel like I am dying but I have this site now, lol.
